Question about DeLonghi ESAM3500 Espresso Machine & Coffee Maker
I have had my DeLonghi Magnifica ESAM3500 for a number of years making great coffee. Recently I have noticed water collecting in the tray but I am still able to make espresso and lattes. I have seen many posts about this recommending to replace the o'rings but I haven't seen a detailed explanation of how to take the machine apart or where the o'rings are. Could you point me to something I can refer to? I would like to take care of this before the leak gets worse and won't be sable to make coffee anymore. Thanks, Nick
Understanding how the frothing mechanism functions is half the battle in figuring out the solution. It's a simple vacuum type system. No doubt you've read about checking the orings. This is definitely the first thing to check however if this is not the reason then consider the following.
The larger of the white tubes that has the red and black oring inserts deep into its port on the tap. Why? It pushes steam past the milk pipe directly into the chrome frothing tube which causes a vacuum essentially drawing milk up it's hose creating the froth. What you can't see without further investigation is that on the underside of the tube centered between the red and black orings is a small hole. This hole is responsible for drawing the milk upwards. If this is blocked, and it probably is then no milk and no froth. Use a really small screwdriver to carefully clean the white tube both from the front and the little hole underneath.
So in conclusion. Any air leak between the red and black rings will prevent the vacuum required to draw milk up the tube and alternatively any blockage of the milk channel will also obviously prevent the flow into the frothing mechanism.
Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Hi there, my Delonghi ESAM3500
If the temperature isn't high enough it's because the thermostat that regulates the heater from the tank is faulty. Unless you have experience in dismantling this type of units , locating and testing components, finding the correct replacement parts and installing them, there's nothing you can do. Take it to an authorised service center.

SOURCE: We understand that your problem
Based on the information provided above the machine is a bit old as 3 years of regular use is quite a while. If the frothing wand is the only part of the machine which leaks water it can be presumed that a replacement of the part is in order.
It will be advicable if you can afford a new machine to get a new one otherwise get an expert to replace the frothing wand and run a general service of the entire machine.
Water leakages around electrical appliances are very dangerous and the consequences are always disastrous. So ensure that either the device is handled by an expert or replace the unit completely.
Hope this solution has been helpful?

Hi I had this problem. Drove me crazy (no Coffee) I found that at the top of the infuser was a round steel filter held in by a single screw, I removed the steel filter cleaned with steel wool and cleared the holes It worked but I will need to replace this part as I still didn't get all the holes unblocked.
