I have an IBM think pad and when i click on my network places then my network connections none of my connections pop up(none of them are shown), and i don't know how to wi-fi for internet, and on my other...

at home, most homes have many wifi devices, TV's PC's and all my cellphones have wifi too as option 2 ,for 5G. to save 5g overcharges..

So your wifi card in dead wifi PC fails to show your personal SSID wifi name, but we know it is good due to other PC's see and it works, thus proving the R51 is the culprit.
you failed to say R51 worked before, wow, buy it dead like this?
so why is this true is simple.
1: the wifi card in R51 is missing as most were back then(called the wifi options day 1 new) 2005 Relic PCs, IBM. omg runs 12 years later a true magical PC,
the card must be there and the 2 antenna too, and connected both.
the PC has built in diagnostics, PAGE 40 in the manual and wireless lan is there.

2: forgot your wifi credentials,(SSID,+ Password) you.
3; wifi card is bad.
4: wifi driver (sw) missing or the wrong one , not obtained from IBM or Lenovo.
4 causes, sw, hw or forget credentials. or too far from router wifi this PC. R51

this PC, I'm reading your manual to you now , 2005
has a relic modem card, for dial up. no not that.
wow a 232 page service manual see, vast places, easy to find and read. 100% free too.... and no stolen email bull

Fn+F5 is the wifi air plane mode switch. and will fail lacking drivers for it;.

PCI slot is where, well it is not the top left BT;modem card.
page 86/ 87 shows the true and real WIFI card and location
a hatch is opened and behold the wifi card. not empty here.
if cards is there, I read the names and numbers off the card one of 3 above.
then at lenovo on the R51 support page get the correct driver for the matched up card.
and NO OS told so we you must tell lenovo that first.

short list.
1: open hatch see card (not missing) nor antennas fell off it; x2.
2: get card model #
3: at lenovo get the driver for that card
4: load the drivers now. to R51, wiif
5: load your credentials ,your wifi and SSID and Pw now. bingo it works if Fn_F5 not in air plane mode.

Installing modem

By the looks of your question, it appears you may have an internal PCI modem. If that is the case, please state your PCI modem brand and model. You may have what is called a WinModem or "softmodem" because they were usually US Robotics modems made strictly for windows. They are known to be buggy with their software drivers and hard to install but not impossible. Since softmodems use your CPU's power one solution would be to change to an external modem (since they have their own processor) and save yourself some headaches later on.

Thanks.
