Question about Pioneer SD-643HD5 64" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Pioneer sd-643hd5 Hi, I am having the same problem with my pioneer sd-643hd5 tv. The fuse keeps blowing ,the one in the middle. I changed it a few times and it would eventually blow again. However after reading one of the posts that said it was a 5 amp fuse I realized I was using a 4 amp fuse. So anyway I replaced it with a 5 amp fuse and it seems to be working fine. I am a little worried now wondering if it is the right fuse and if my set is going to blow up or worse catch fire. I will be unplugging the set for now until someone can tell me if it is the right fuse or not. Thanks for any help.

I have a fuse problem too. I removed a 4amp fuse so I replaced it with a 4amp fuse and it blew as soon as I turned on the TV. Should I go to a 5amp? Is there a special 4amp fuse to use. Now it doesn't even go to on for 2 secs, it just stays in standby. Did something else break?

Hi I am not an expert but I did replace the middle one with a 5 amp after going through lots of 4 amp slo-blo fuses. It has been about 1 and 1/2 months so far and no problems. I don't know if it makes a difference but I only shut the TV off with the remote and it goes in standby. Good luck

Pioneer 65" TV Model # SD-643HD5 won't power up.

I would suggest replacing the board itself, chances are what caused those fuses to blow is still faulty. did you check those fuses again after you powered it back up?

My TV will not come off of standby?

You have a blowed Fuse 6.3amps ,Located in the middle of the power supply board where the FBT flyback Transfomer is. or you need to replace the STK ICs - STK392-110s use 120s,150s 180s. Mats Electronics has them 1-800-628-1118

Pioneer sd-643hd5 fuse issue

The fuses may not be your problem--I have fixed several of these---The large power board is on the right side as you look from the back?

Lots of these sets develop bad solder connections on that board--several sites on the internet offer to have you remove and send them the board to resolder--this set used lead free solder and after some years has problems--a few I have opened had clearly broken solder joints--I usually in this case remove the board(mark all the many plugs and make a diagram) and solder almost all of it by hand----usually fixes this kind of trouble.

I do this here for free so if this information was helpful give me a vote here....I am here to help people.

Replace the FU303 fuse

I have just been buying it at radio shack. However in my case it seems once the fuse blew for the 1st time, it happens now every few months -- so must be a symptom of a larger issue.

Pioneer SD-643HD5 does not power on

i had the same problem and it was the flyback transformer on the power supply cost me $375 for the board.just make sure you ground yourself because the static electricity could fry it all.when unplugging the cables mark them and be careful.use a jewlers flat head scewdriver to unlock the cables.use a can of compressed air to clean off the dust.
