SOURCE: need wire schematic for starter switch

I am holding the switch part (INDAK 681064) with the black pushbutton switch to the right.
The two wires on the top are Red then White. The two wires on the bottom are both black.

Go to www.partsdirect.com. This is Sears website for equipment information. Put the model number in and it should find the model you are working on. A diagram should be available there.

Ignition switch
Find the wiring diagram on the web at one of the parts sellers. There are few differences in ignition switches, and not that many to be worried about. You will have battery, starter, ignition GROUND{to kill the engine}, and perhaps PTO accessories, and lighting. That's all I can think of. The terminals are labeled and the diagram should explain what each terminal should be connected to.

MOWING DECK WILL NOT "TURN
A wiring diagram and a test light are needed. If you don't have the wiring diagram, use a test light, start at the clutch and work your way back checking for current at each switch/connector. It maybe the ignition switch, there should be one terminal on it that feeds 12v to the clutch curcuit.

could be your ignition switch but thats the best way to find out where its not getting power to.

If you unplug your harness from the key switch on the back of the key switch you will see by the terminals letters stamped a S for solenoid a L for lights B for battery G ground and a M for magneto. This will tell you were the loose wires should go. Hope this helped.

None of the numbers you supplied match any info on the toro.com web site. Check the numbers and then see if toro has any info for you.

That said, it sounds like you connected to the wrong relay terminal. Here is how you want it connected:
The battery (and alternator) connect to one of the large terminals on the relay. The starter connects to the other large terminal. The start switch connects to the small terminal on the relay. The idea being that the small current connected to the small terminal turns on the relay which connects the large battery current to the starter.

Obviously there is more to the wiring than just that, but you didn't ask about the rest...
