I lost the original CD that came with the camcoder and I am trying to find a free download for the Image Mixer to transfer the DVD files on to the computer.

Mac's camera editing only goes as far as iMovie. Importing more footage is almost impossible. You may be able to find a few back routes though. Hope that helps.

If you captured to MiniDV you do not need to install the Image Mixer software.
Hook your camera up to the computer via Firewire (not USB) and use video editing software to "capture" the video. The capture process basically plays back your video in real-time and sends it to your hard drive. You'll need a lot of hard drive space available for this, though. 1 hour of MiniDV video is equal to 13GBs of hard drive space. So you may want to also get a fast external hard drive.
