How do you 'credit' a charged item? i.e. Customer been charged to pay later, however overcharged how do I put a credit through?

Did you pay with credit card? Some companies put a large 'hold' amount on your card until the real amount clears. Then the $400.00 is refunded. If it really is an overcharge, then the credit card can get it refunded.

What item did you buy online at that date, and then use your PayPal ID to pay for the item? Since you did not have enough "credit-balance" on your PayPal account, PayPal charged your credit-card for the difference, e.g., $200 item, with $5 available on your PayPal account, means that $195 will be charged to your credit-card.

Which account?
Did you have a "positive" balance in your PayPal account?
If so, PayPal will refund your payment back to that account.

If you did not have a balance, PayPal charged your credit-card when you paid. PayPal will "reverse" the charge. Go online to your bank, and check "recent credit-card transactions", to see the original charge, and the "reversal".

go to your pay pal account click on help and you should be able to contact pay pal from there there are contact phone numbers there the pay pal operator will help.

You can report the charges to your bank. The form to report inaccurate transactions is included on the back of your monthly bank statement. If you are using the paperless option, you can report unauthorized transactions by contacting customer service and requesting they email or fax a form to contest the charges. Whatever you do, make sure that you report the items in writing to your bank and verify that they have received your completed forms. There are time limits on unauthorized transactions. They have to be reported upon discovery

Unauthorize the charges and they will give you a temporary credit in your account while completing their investigation.
