Hi there! We just purchased a Panasonic nv-GS50 from Ebay without instructions & have no idea how to tape from the camcorder to vcr! The cord that we assume is to connect the camera to the video doesn't seem to fit either the audio or video plugs. all the other camcorders we have used all ahd Red & Yellow av plugs & this one doesn't. Thanks Heaps for any help!!!!!

Possible that the video head is dirty and so there is DROP OUT factor as no signal is picked up from the head . The head can be clogged due to fungus from old tapes or from ferrite dust.
Use a good head spray to clean , also use a good head cleaning tape so that the head cleans and it is able to pick up the signals from the tape.
Finally in some cases the dirt can be so strong that you will need to manually clean the head.
It was my question and I have found an answer. The problem was,due to faulty main PCB,which did not supply power to LCD backlight. I was lucky enough to find same faulty model on eBay,sold for spares (around $15 for the lot).I have also purchased a service manual for $10,just to see,how to disassemble a unit.It was pretty easy, not a rocket science.Any new replacement part usually very expensive, not saing about repair in repair shop. Will cost fortune. My advice: try to find similar not working unit on ebay, just figure out what was wrong,as there is no point to get unit with the same fault. The camera I have bought for parts had a mechanical problem, chewing tape.
well i could have help more but you didnt tell me what is the problem...soo cant help more then:
if the "camcorder keeps on saying that i need to get it serviced"
then my guess is :
GET IT SERVICED ASAP!! you got a wedding to catch....
