Yes this is typical of any security code... it will remember it for a limited amount of time... the next time you enter the code there should be an option to remember the code and if you select this it will always be connected.

If all lights including power light are flashing, then should I replace the modem?

The first thing I'd do would be to do a "hard reset" - hold down the power button until the modem shuts off. Disconnect the Internet signal coming in and all connected devices (ethernet cables). Restart the modem.

Different modems have different specific trouble codes.. if the hard reboot doesn't solve your problem, and *if* you have all necessary user names, passwords, and settings written down, you can also reset the modem to the "factory condition" ... then connect to it with an ethernet cable, enter its GUI (the menu / settings software) and connect that way. Instructions for that would be in your user manual...

HOW TO SET UP SPEED TOUCH 5X6V6 BROADBAND MODEM

Once you have an Internet Service Provider ,ISP,
you just need a modem and phone line access,
plug modem into phone socket and then into the computer,

My example modem is.........

Speed Touch 5x6v6 - Broadband Modem
Operating System is Windows 7

log on to the modem using Internet Explorer Bar
Type 192.168.254
this will open the modems log on menu
then enter user name and password
its factory default is
user ADMIN
password ADMIN or 1234

once open there are some menu options on the main page

Speed Touch,
Broadband Connection,
Toolbox,
Home Network,

to add new user and password,
go to toolbox,
user management,
add new user
add password,(write down username and password)
change default user
save and test
should have a green tick next to new default user now

selecting broadband ... shows both your,
dsl connection and internet connection status,
with a green tick next to each heading.

Home network will show you...
all devices connected to this modems network ie
the other computers and printers etc,
connected on your network.
In network ,select your computer in the menu tree,
select configure
this give you a menu to add info about your computer
ie name info, comupters ip address,
access to the local intranet or the internet

Now lets connect to the internet

select Broadband from front page

Now we go to your computer,
go to start

No internet connection

f your modem isn't getting an answer from your ISP
  • 1 Make sure that the cable is correctly connected to both a phone line and your modem and that, if you're using an external modem, it's connected to the PC.
  • 2 Dial the access number for your Internet service provider (ISP) with a regular telephone and listen for a data tone. If you don't get one, then you have the wrong number or your ISP is down.
  • 3 If your modem is internal, skip this step. Unplug the power cord from your modem and shut down your computer. Plug the modem back in and restart your computer.
  • 4 If you have another modem cable that you can use to connect the computer to the modem, swap it with your current cable to rule out a bad cable.
  • If your connection is refused by your ISP
  • 1 Make sure your username and password are still correct. These are usually entered through a connection program that your ISP provided. You will probably have to retype your password, as you won't be able to read it on-screen.
  • 2 Locate the TCP/IP settings for your computer. In Windows, these are found in the Network and Dial-up Connection control panels. In Mac OS 9.2 and earlier, they're in the TCP/IP control panel. In Mac OS X, they're in the Network section of System Preferences.
  • 3 Check that the host name and domain name information are correctly entered in the TCP/IP settings. This information should have been supplied by your ISP.
  • If your connection is accepted but you can't load Web pages or send e-mail
  • 1 Call your ISP's support number to find out if you have been affected by a service outage.
  • 2 Unplug the power from your modem (whether it's telephone, DSL or cable) for at least 10 seconds, shut down your computer, plug the modem back in and restart your computer.
  • If your connection seems too slow
  • 1 Set your Windows computer to MS-DOS mode: Click on Start, Programs, MS-DOS Prompt.
  • 2 Type "ping" followed by an Internet domain name--for example, www.google.com or www.yahoo.com. Macintosh users with OS X can use Apple's Network Utility program to "ping." Earlier versions of Mac OS don't have it built in, but freeware programs are available on the Web.
  • 3 You should get a report saying how many milliseconds it took for your "ping" to reach the destination. A computer communicating with the Internet via a 56-KBps modem connection might typically have a 0.3-second (300-ms) or longer ping. Anything longer than 5 seconds (5,000 ms) indicates a problem with your connection that might be the fault of your ISP.

I want download usb modem drivers for windows 7, for connecting internet through my lg kg195 mobile

Make sure that you can see the phone's modem in the modem section of device manager(Preset in Control Panel). For airtel connection you have to enter the APN(Access Point name) as "airtelgprs.com" in the PC suite to connect to internet and the dialup number is *99#.
If your pc suite dont have a option for entering the APN then you can manually enter it here-->Go to Control Panel>>Device Manager>>Your phone's modem Properties>>Advance tab>>In Extra Initialization Commands enter this (+CGDCONT=,,"airtelgprs.com") without brackets and create a dialup connection with *99# as dialup number using ur phone's modem, Username n Password field should be blank.

I am unable to access the internet via a wireless connection with my thinkpad.

Shut off your router and unplug the power. Also unplug your cable modem and shut down all your computers. First plug in your cable modem, wait for lights to come back on, plug in your router and then boot your computer.

How to set up my belkin adsl modem with built in wireless router (8o2.11g/54 mbps) with my broadband connection?

There may be a set up wizard disk with the router so you can put in your broadband account details etc to get you running.

The wireless side of things will almost certainly require you to use a cable to connect you PC to the router and log in using internet explorer

Post the model number of the router so I can assist you in more detail
