My iPod 160 GB Classic is stuck with just Apple logo on screen. Initially, my MacBook recognised my iPod but now it won't even recognise it. It won't restore it and message suggested I need to use updated Apple iPod software. On 2 separate computers I downloaded latest 8.2 software and still the iPod won't restore. As it's out of warranty, official fix estimate is as costly as a new iPod! Can you help?

Try forcing the iPod into disc mode to restore.
Putting ipod into disc mode http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1363 Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Set it to Hold, then turn it off again.) Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons for at least 6 seconds until the Apple logo appears. When the Apple logo appears, release the Menu and Select buttons and immediately press and hold the Select and the Play/Pause buttons until the Disk Mode screen appears.
Connect the iPod to your computer; the screen on the iPod will change and say "Do not disconnect" If you are having difficulty putting the iPod model into disk mode, set it on a flat surface. Make sure that the finger pressing the Select button is not touching the Click Wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Play/Pause button toward the outside of the Click Wheel and not near the center.
If you are still unable to put your iPod with a Click Wheel into Disk Mode, use one finger from one hand to press the Select button, and one finger from the other hand to press the Play/Pause button.
If this does not make the iPod connect to your computer, I would suggest checking out www.rapidrepair.com for further ideas and options to your issue.

Used ipod wont recognise in itunes

If you are on a PC the most common reason for iTunes not recognising is because of driver corruption. The easiest way to resolve this is to download the very latest version of it from the Apple site and reinstalling it. If that doesnt work, reset the device by holding down Menu and Select until the Apple logo appears then hold down Select and Play together until the display reads 'OK to Disconnect'. Now connect it to your PC. iTunes should now recognise it and you should click the 'restore' button on the ipod main page of iTunes.

All the best

Apple Ipod Classic 80gb

Take it to an Apple store in your area and find out if the hard drive crashed on it.

They usually do it for free in there.
