How do i trouble shoot motor not starting unless a charger on 60 amp boost and motor is on top the compression stroke, yet motor runs fine when it starts?

Have replaced the battery and still have to use a charger on 60 amp boost and have it on top the compression stroke to get motor to turn over. when it starts it runs fine. if i pull a plug it will turn over fine. can't find an unloader and don't think its out of time since it runs good when it starts

2 things you might want to look at.
1) Vacuum test your fuel line. This is a common problem with huskys.

2) Check to see if the exhaust port or spark arrestor screen is plugged up. If so pick out a carbon deposits.

SOURCE: Won't start

only thing left would be the timing of the spark. inspect rotor, key may have broke and spun on shaft.

SOURCE: 455 wont run

Make sure the muffler has not become plugged. Check the flywheel key as it may have sheared off for some reason causing the timing to be off, yet still generate sparks. Are the sparks blue and snappy? If not, check the ignition module gap to the flywheel magnets--use a thin business card for a gauge. A wide gap can cause weak spark. Hope this gets you running again!

SOURCE: Compression in cylinder too strong to pull starter

We have a Husky 435 that does the same thing. Found that the engine is trying to fire after first pull. Try setting the choke at 1/2 after first pull, but don't bump the throttle which will release 'fast idle'. This process seems to limit the 'kick back' effect. It also helps if you have a strong arm. Good luck!

SOURCE: will not start has 60

When I have a problem starting a saw this is what I do.

  • Remove the spark plug and pour 5 ml (one teaspoonful) of fuel into the opening
  • Dip the end of the sparkplug in fuel so the spark gap is wet
  • Replace the sparkplug and try to start the saw
The fuel that you poured in should ignite and may be enough to cause the saw to start. You may need to repeat the operation 2 or 3 times. Do not be tempted to put in too much feul as it will only flood the saw.

If the saw was left away with fuel in the carburettor for a few months the fuel may have formed a gel in the jets of the carburettor. If the above method doesn't solve the problem you'll need to have a mechanic strip down the carburettor and clean the jets.

18.5 hp lawn tractor will not turn over when on compression stroke . If you move it a little by hand past compression stroke it will start.

Sounds to me that you have a weak battery and is not putting out enough cranking amps..Takes more cranking amps during compression strokes to start than in down stroke...That is why you are able to start it in the down stroke less amps needed to turn motor over..

Ses doo 2013 grx limited 260 wont start Why

The internal combustion engine is quite simple. All you need for it to run is compression, fuel & a spark to ignite it. I'm not saying it'll do 40 MPH but it should start & run. If it doesn't then one of the 3 elements is missing.
You need the following - sounds stupid but it wont work if one of these is missing.
1. PETROL - fill the tank to be sure. If its a 4 stroke just petrol. If its a 2 stroke petrol & 2 stroke oil mixed or top up 2 stroke oil tank.
2. Fully charged BATTERY. Clean connectors on battery tops
3. a SPARK at spark plugs. Clean them while they are out. If no spark look for dodgy coils, plugs, HT leads, triggers.
Look for air leaks in fuel line - if bulb does not go hard you got an air leak. Does it smell of petrol? check for leaks in fuel line & around carbs, look for perished fuel line, loose clamps or if they are jubilee clips, they could be too tight, crushing the anti-syphon valves at the primer bulb. loosen them until squeezing the bulb scoots fuel out then re-tighten JUST enough to stop fuel leaking.
Does it turn over? - then battery ok & not seized
Does the choke operate? operate lever & confirm things turn properly on carbs.
Once its started you can fine tune it but it needs to start first!!

Starting problems

Yamaha's are a bit cold blooded. Determine if it's compression, ignition or fuel. If your compression is good, next try a shot of starting fluid into the air cleaner, only use a bit and shoot some in while turning the starter or have someone shoot some in and kick it over immediately. If it starts or at least shows some life, your problem is in the fuel supply or carb. 60% of troubles I see is due to modern day crappy gas. Never use fuel with alcohol (oxygenated) and do not use gas more than 90 days old unless it was treated with a stabilizer.
Next step is check your spark. I prefer using an old spark plug gapped wide, say .040, and clamp it with a hose clamp to a battery charger alligator clamp to ground to the engine. You should see a consistent blue spark. If you have electric start, spin the motor for say 30 seconds and feel the heavy positive that goes to the starter, or the heavy ground. If it feels warm and/or if your starter doesn't smoothly turn over, a bad starter can take power away from the ignition.

My kx 60 wont kickstart but it will bump start

Sounds like low compression. Do a compression test, and it should have at least 90psi,..if not,its time to rebuild the top end..(piston,rings,bore)...pretty common for two strokes.

I have a '85 tri-moto three wheeler, it runs fine but does not idle. I have adjusted the idle screw accordingly but it still dies after letting off the throttle. What should I do to correct this? The motor...

Replace idle jet with a new one OEM is $5.00. If won't idle still the compression is so low that it won't stay running Or possibly the main seals are leaking (a 2 stroke has top end & bottom end compression.)

1997 bravada wont start

Hook fuel pressure gauge up to port near firewall. A battery charger sometimes boosts the vehicle voltage just enough to engage weak fuel pump. Should show 50-60 lbs all the time while cranking when not starting on battery.
