check circuit board for contamination. looks like white powder. if there is, clean with alcohol let dry. before plug set backin. if you can't fix you can use a stereo to get your sound thur.just hook up your cable box or what ever through the audio video jacks on box to audio in aux. jacks on the back of srereo
You will have a connect a cable from your laptop headphone jack to your audio in on your TV. This is a common problem. They sell a cable that goes from headphone jack to RCA jack size. You could also just add powered external speakers to your laptop and get excellent sound that way. I have a $20 pair of external Labtec speakers and they sound great watching a movie on TV.
distorted sound sometimes accompanied by buzzing is caused by detuned circuit in the SIF amplifier and sound detector circuit. a distorted sound alone is caused by a breakdown in AF amplifier circuit so try to change the sound ic since its the only options left. good luck!
I usually do not give a one line suggestion but if you lost sound after moving it--look on the back to see if there is a slide switch--some models have this to select if internal or external speakers are being used.
It may have got moved when the set was moved. A few also have it on the front of the set.
If not this, the circuit board inside either got damaged or the speaker leads dislodged.
let me know what you find.

tart checking the cable connection to receiver, try moving or replacing cables.
If you have a surround with external speakers check surround connection cable and speakers wiring.
If the cables are OK, then the unit may be faulty.
that case the fault can be either the audio board (often audio circuit
is integrated on the main board) , or the sinput output signal board. Also a contact on connection to internal speakers can give you same problem.
I am no pro but I hooked speakers up by using the ourputs at the back. You have to plug into a reciever or amplifier though first. You cannot just hook external speakers up mwhich is what I believe you are doing...
