Go to the bios and set the time and date there. you also may need to load the default settings to reset the bios to remove any bios passwords. if that does not work remove the bios battery or move the bios jumper for one minute. to reset it write down all bios settings befor you do it.

Need password for entering windows. there is error 0271: check time and date setting. my friend said that the motherboard error, must be reset or change... what should i do???

I have the same problem with a desktop.

To bypass the error, You might need to set the correct date and time every time you power up your laptop. Date and clock setting can be set via CMOS configuration.

I HAVE A IBM THINKPAD A22M LAPTOP WHEN IT BOOTS IT HAS A ERROR CODE OF 0271 CHECK DATE AND TIME SETTINGS AND BLANK SCREEN APPEARS AND A LOCK ICON APPEARS.... IT PROMPTS FOR A PASSWORD I DONT KNOW THE...

You will most likely have to remove the backup battery temporarily to allow the CMOS to clear the password lock.
The instructions for removing the CMOS battery are located here.
Be sure to disconnect the power cord and remove the standard battery when performing this work.
Be very careful to follow the directions exactly as shown.
You may have to leave the CMOS battery removed for a number of hours in order to clear the CMOS password.

I accidently removed the cmos battery of ibm thinkpad t30. After that error 0271: time and date setting appear then power on password show up. I failed to get into bios to change the time and date setting...

Removing the BIOS battery will not remove the BIOS password because the password is stored on an EEPROM chip. The password can be retrieved with difficulty, it requires you to build an EEPROM chip reader. For instructions to remove this password, please click on this link :-

Removing CMOS battery on ibm r50e is not solving the pass problem

Removing battery or resetting BIOS with jumper will not help. You should call IBM for support on this issue. All thinkpads have a three year warranty, with either return to base or on-site service. Since the R50e is a recent model, you should have no problem getting it serviced directly by IBM. Toll Free: 1-800-IBM-SERV (1-800-426-7378)

I CANNOT BOOT MY IBM THINKPAD 2367..HELP

Both errors are related to the backup battery which is located under the main battery. It is probably dead. You can get one on eBay for $3.29 w/free shipping or pay a shop $20 to put one in. If you do it yourself be very gentle plugging it into the tricky little slot - it is possible to break the connector loose from the motherboard but it is an easy repair if you have patience and dexterity. As for the password, try just hitting enter. It is the supervisor password to change the BIOS settings and was probably never set.
Hope this helps.

Bios lock, ERROR CODE 0271

Hi,
Error code 0271 - Date and time error. Neither the date nor the time is set in the computer.
Run BIOS Setup Utility to reset the time and date
It sounds as though your computer has the wrong time in the CMOS. The CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductors) is the chip that holds the basic startup information for the BIOS, system and its peripherals while the system is turned on and off.

If you can get into the BIOS check the date and time settings and make sure they are correct.

It may also be a case of the CMOS battery going out. When this happens your computer will tend to not keep the correct time. They are cheap and relatively easy to replace. Before buying a new batter your can try to take it out and let it sit for about 10 minutes or so to reset the CMOS and then go put the battery back in and go into the BIOS and reset the clock.

Hopefully taking the batter out or replacing it will get past your lock icon asking for the password. Just search for CMOS or BIOS default password for your brand of laptop.
