Kenmore gas range when no clicking when turning the oven on

Range: Gas burner won't spark or ignite A surface burner igniter switch and a spark module activate the spark electrode when a burner is turned to the "Lite" position on a gas range's cooktop. If the surface burner switch, spark module or wiring in that circuit fails, the spark electrode won't work, and as a result the gas burner won't light. If those components work but the electrode won't spark, the problem could be that the spark electrode is coated with spilled food of is bent or broken. In addition, the electrode won't spark or ignite the burner properly if the ceramic insulation sleeve below the tip of the electrode is cracked or broken. If the gas burner isn't lighting, these repairs may help.

Replace the spark igniter electrode

1396454293470.jpg The spark igniter electrode-also called the surface burner igniter-is an insulated electrode that provides an ignition spark to light a surface gas burner. It sparks and makes a ticking sound when the burner switch is turned to the Lite position. Replace the spark ignition electrode if it fails to spark or if the ceramic insulation sleeve is cracked or chipped. How to Replace a Spark Igniter Electrode in a Gas Range Find This Part

Replace the surface spark module

1377098014986.jpg The surface spark module is in the ignition circuit for the gas surface burners. When a surface burner control knob is turned to the "Lite" position, it provides voltage to the spark electrodes on the gas surface burners. If the surface spark module fails to provide the electrodes with voltage, then it should be replaced. Find This Part

Replace the spark igniter switch

1396454315355.jpg The igniter switch is an electrical switch on the stem of the gas surface burner control valve. This switch completes a circuit to the surface burner spark module, causing the burner igniters to spark when the burner switch is turned to the Lite position. Replace the burner igniter switch if the burners don't spark when you turn the burner control knob to the Lite position or if igniters spark constantly even when the burner knobs are in the Off position.

How to Troubleshoot a Gas Range Oven That Won't Heat
By Kefa Olang, eHow Contributor
Although gas range oven may prove useful for cooking and baking, they may fail to ignite if they aren't properly maintained and set up. Lighting a gas range often involves simply turning a knob; however, blockages from food particles and debris caught in the burners, improper burner cap installation and gas supply are common problems that interfere with your gas range oven's performance. A few troubleshooting guidelines may solve these problems safely.

Instructions
    • 1
Check you have gas in your tank if your gas range oven won't heat. Contact your gas supplier if you've run out of gas.

    • 2
Clean the burners if you have gas but your burners still won't ignite. To clean the burners, lift the burner caps 9b4f010f-be4f-4db6-8a88-4c3fd17e3339.gif
    • 3
Inspect the small vertical holes on the side of your burners for dirt, food and debris. The gas won't ignite if they are clogged. Scrape dirt, debris and food from the vertical holes using a pointy object such as a toothpick or paperclip.

    • 4
Reinstall the burner caps properly. If they are tilted or wobbly, the gas may not ignite. Install the caps on the right burners. Some burners are smaller than others, so match the caps to the appropriate burners.

    • 5
Move the burner knob to the "Lite" position and wait for the gas to ignite. If it ignites, rotate the knob to your desired setting. If it doesn't ignite, contact a qualified appliance technician.

I have. A 40 gal. 40,0000 btu natural gas , how do u lite the pilot light

Access is at the bottom of the water heater. There is a little cover you will have to take off. Look for the gas valve. (its where the gas will come in to the water heater) Follow the two lines that come off he bottom of the valve. They will lead you to the burner (big line) and the pilot(smaller line). The pilot is what you are looking for.
1. locate the pilot (it will be 8" or so in to the water heater)(right next to the burner)
2. Turn knob on top of gas valve to "pilot"
3. Push down the knob on top of the valve that you just turned to "pilot" or there may be a lever right next to the knob on some models
4.with a long fireplace match or bar b que lighter, while holding the knob down, reach your lighter to the pilot assembly. you may smell a little gas.
5. The pilot will light, do not let go of the knob for 30-45 seconds
6. After a few seconds let go of the knob and turn it to "on"
7. Check your thermostat make sure it is not on "vacation" and turn it up to see if the burner ignites.
You are ready for hot water if all works. Hope this helps you, have a good day.

Lighting pilot light

Pilot assembly is located inside the bottom compartment, between the the two middle burners while the gas valve is located under the burner manifold. Make sure that the gas line where the unit is connected is open. You need to turn the gas valve knob to "Pilot" position and depress it (to allow the gas to flow on pilot) then light the pilot assembly using a lighter with extended nozzle ( burner igniter). Once the flame is present at the pilot assembly, wait for about 15 seconds (allowing thermopile to heat up) the gradually release the gas valve knob. If the pilot flame is stable, turn the gas valve knob to "ON" position and set the thermostat to desired temperature setting. This will ignite the burners and heat up the oil to set temperature. Just remember, do not do this if there is no oil on fry tank.

How do i start the pilot light on a JGBP28wek6ww

That model is an electronic ignition, ther isn't a standing pilot on it(no liitle flame that stays lit). Light the burner by pushing in on the knob and turnlig to "LITE" position, you will hear a clicking noise the sound of the electric spark igniting the burner, turn the knob to adjust the flame size. Keep in mind that all igniters spark whenever any of the knobs are turned to the "LITE" position. Good luck !
