Replace element in smeg sa306 oven - Smeg Kitchen Ranges

SOURCE: cooker not heating up

removed broken element and replaced it. You have to access the fixing screws from the back of the cooker to remove it

is there a heat probe inside the oven? sound like you owen is overheating. i would check the TOD, if the oven has one. this thermostat regulates the temperature and if it's "open" it needs to be replaced.

if oven does not heat atall, then suspect element.
take back panel off inside oven and element is in view. sometimes the damage is obvious but not always.
remove back of casing and check for continuity thro the element with a multimeter. replacement is easy

more often the element burns out before the selector switch. If there is an indicator lamp that illuminates when you turn it on and the light isn't coming on then it could be the switch.

although no evidence of elements blowing out , when tested both were dead. we do then recall maybe oven wasnt cokking quite so good so one element must have been already blown.replaced them both and all is good
