When the TV is on, use a flashlight to shine on the screen. If you can see a picture it's the bulb or inverter. The screen will look similar to an old LCD calculator (grey, monochrome) when the flashlight is on it.

Brake lights dont work on 1980 ford f 100,how do i fix

First check the obvious, both lights off indicate a fuse issue . Fuse box is under dash, driver's side, often a diagram to tell you which it is on cover otherwise check manual. If that's ok check bulbs themselves. I think you come at it from front of vehicle side and they twist counter clockwise to get at harness but otherwise take lens cap off from back of vehicle usually 4 to 6 screws. They'll be two filament type bulbs (just unscrew counter clockwise). Replace if either filament broken or if bulb looks damaged. You can clean them up with a bit of sandpaper...connection is everything.Repeat for other side. If they look ok use multimeter to check to see if there is voltage to bulb...if no voltage likely fuse or wire issue...try to find damaged or burnt areas, test light helps to try and isolate it. Good luck.

Ok dumb question but here it goes. Have a Philips 42inch flat panel HDTV. Today I noticed the blue power on indicator light, was no longer blue it is white. TV appears to be working ok, but what is it?

The LED light (the light bulb that isn't actually a bulb), has probably either burnt out or dimmed so that the colour has been changed. Nothing to worry about

Push on button and nothing no lights how to tell

not always but 95 percent of time if you remove the bulb the bulb will be burnt out like a regular light bulb and or shattered. At the shop the first rule was always remove the bulb and look at it. DO NOT touch the front or lense part of the bulb.

I turn on the power button and the light flashes green over and over. I noticed when I took off the front screen that the bulb would flicker on but not turn on all the way. I took out the bulb out of its...

szorehkeyhom,

If your unit is more than three years old you probably need a new bulb. Looking at it or even trying to test it with a DVM will not reveal if it is ok or not. It would be better to just replace it if it is more than 3 years old. I have a tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r4168009-change_lamp_in_dlp_projection_tv which explains where to get a quality lamp at a good price and how to do the repair.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating.

No brake lights 1990 ford f 150

First, check fuses. If the fuse for tail and brake lights is OK, check the bulbs. If they are OK, you need a new brake light switch, which attached to the brake pedal under the dash. The part should be less than $20. These are a common replacement item on older fords.

How do i tell if lamp for 50v500a hdtv is burnt out-I get sound but no picture-red l"lamp" indicator light blinks when tv is on. I pulled out lamp box lamp looks fine

Most of the time you will see it burnt inside the bulb. I have had a few occasions where it looked OK. Bulbs are pretty common though so that would be the best place to start.

Green light just blinks with and no picture?

Is the lamp new. A lamp can look ok but still be bad. This is first thing to change. You'll have a spare if not bad. next likely the ballast.

Left rear brake light stopped working but bulb and fuses are OK.

These are Dual Function Bulbs. They control the Parking Lights and the Brake Lights. This Bulb is Burnt out on the Brake Coil inside the Bulb. I have actually seen Bulbs that were Bad But you could not Tell by jast looking at them. It should be fine with a New Bulb. Please Rate My Response! Thanks!
