When the protect indicator comes on, usually a power transistor has blown. The unit needs to be taken to a repair shop.

If not the battery, In most cases, the camera is beyond economic repair. If the camera is a few years old, buying a newer one is a better option. I'm seeing brand name 10 MP models NEW for $60. you might check online auction sites for used ones. I've picked up 5 MP ones for $5.

SAMSUNG HT-Q9 displays PROTECT and then switches off?

I suspect that the control circuit is sensing a fluctuation in the power supply and going in to protect mode. (assuming that the protect circuit itself is working properly) If a voltage is too high the unit will go in to protect mode to prevent damage to the speakers and the rest of the unit. Expect a 60 to 80 dollar repair charge depending on how many parts need to be replaced and what the repair labor rate is in your area.Hope this will help........

PROTECT on start up

The protect message indicates that the output amplifier section has a problem and the unit has shutdown to prevent further damage. This usually is caused by shorted transistors in the final output stage. In your case, the output amplifier is a single replaceable amp-pac (STK402-090S). This can be purchased from tritronicsinc.com using the Sharp part number: VHISTK4029S-1 at a cost of $63.32

Protection displayed and shuts off

The protect message indicates that the output amp section has a problem. Normally this requires the replacement of the output transistors or the output amp pac. Expect the repair cost to be about $20-$60 for parts plus the local labor rate.

XL-MP60 Micro Component System

Email answer I got from Sharp:

I do apologize for the problems you are having with your audio unit. The protect mode
indicator will appear when the unit detects abnormal resistance in your speaker setup. I
recommend removing any additional speaker wire that may be added to the unit to extend the
factory speaker lengths. Also, make sure you have all the factory speakers attached, and all
non-factory speakers removed. Finally, please unplug you unit from he wall for 1 hour after
checking all of the above suggestions to completely reset your unit.
If you are still having issues after doing all of the steps mentioned above, the unit may need
to be evaluated by a Sharp Authorized repair center.
