How does he know the fly is bad? Is he getting B+ to the horiz. ckt? Did he ring the fly? Was the H-out transistor bad--or is this one with the 2 outs on the flyback board? If the number on the fly is the same as the other one--it should work--IF it is really bad.

First check that the B+ is working under load. Second disconnect the secondaries off the flyback. Now check the the HOTransistor and then ring the flyback. My guess is that the HOT and flyback are bad and possibly a couple of isolation capacitors.

Try turning your screen down on your flyback. Adjust until no retrace lines

fuse in flyback. prehaps you mean the special fuses that are located next to flyback. the fuses are three brown rectangular brown or tan looking to the right of flyback. the one in the middle is f231 the one to look at if you have convergence problem.

Yes, they are on the front of the screen. There should be a volume up and down button right on the front (usually to the left of the power). If there isn't a separate up and down, try the Menu or 1 and 2 buttons.

I have same problem (power light is on, and I have sound, but no picture ) and found that a small capacitor on back of power supply is blown. Seems to be common problem. But viewsonic doesnt stock. Part number is b-00005352 and im trying to find one too

What makes you think its the flyback/ Most likely its something in the start up circuitry voltage regulator or Horizontal output transistor.What model do you have?
