Don't forget to change transmission fluid in case water got in through the breather.
Check if there is water in the fuel. Also the ECU may have got wet.

SOURCE: car cranks but wont start

replace your injectors. your vehicle is getting the fuel to start from the starter fluid. however the injectors arent giving it the gas that it needs to stay cranked

SOURCE: My 93 Saturn SL2 intermittent stalling issues

I would look at the egr system. First pull the valve and clean it. If you have a vacuum tester this would be a good time to test the valve itself as well. When under load you should be able to see the diaphragm engage and hold and then release as you release the vacuum. If that doesn't work check and/or replace the egr solenoid. It's located on the driver's side of the valve cover and usually runs about 60$.

Yours is a common complaint and the above is the most common remedy. Outside of that you might want to check and clean the idle air control valve and the port where it's housed. If it is extremely dirty or something managed to get stuck in there that could affect you vehicle running at idle as well.

Another thing, even though you just changed the plugs, pull one back out and look at it. If is fouled with oil you might need a new valve cover gasket which if it's leaking badly enough will impede spark.

My 94 Saturn sl will turn over but won't crank we

The O2 sensor would have no effect on the engine starting.
And if it cranks it turns over, just may not start.
Have you checked for spark at the plugs, and fuel pressure at the injectors ?
Do you have normal compression when the engine is cranked ?

Why won't my 1997 Saturn SL start?

you have spark at the plugs ..thats something

spray stay you mug
into the throttle body see if the motor will cough

tank needs draining and have fresh fuel
fuel pump has a filter and fuel relay

crack the fuel line connection to the rail to see if there is fuel reaching the rail and correct pressure

if sitting 6 years.. not being run regularly
do a compression test
lifters may be stuck
rings may have lost tension

1997 Saturn SL can't get it started Have replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, spark plugs, CPS sensor and coolant sensor.

Im not sure if this will completely solve your problem, but I will give it a try.

If the engine is flooded, crank the engine while holding the gas pedal to the floor for a couple minutes (or until it sputters or starts). This will get all of the extra gas out of the engine. Your plugs will be fine.

Check your fuel pressure with a test kit...they have a bleeder port that can purge the air out of the fuel rail. Its possible the old gas may have gone bad in 6 years. you may have to purge the old gas with fresh gas. couldnt hurt to put a couple bottles of fuel injector cleaner with your gas. Your injectors could be gummed up with varnish from the old gas.

Before you waste a bunch of money and time replacing good parts, get a code reader or have a mechanic hook up a code reader for you. This will help isolate your problems. If you are not getting a check engine light, the mechanic method may be better because their computers will give you more information than a handheld.

2002 saturn sl won't start, turn over but won't start

Done cars have a kill switch if they are low on oil. Check your oil. If the oil is good, it may be the ignition switch.

Drove 96 dodge caravan thru a flash flooded roadway. had to make a quick a quick stop, van died. Have replaced starter because of grinding upon trying to start. Now it just makes one click when trying to...

Check cables must be tight at battery & starter. You must have 12 volts coming out of battery to starter.
Pull your dip stick is it over filled or milky looking. If so you very likely have water in engine.
Can you turn the fly wheel or is the engine locked up?
Drain the oil replace filter remove spark plugs turn engine backward to unlock engine. Drain fuel and replace fuel filter. Remove air filter has it gotten wet? Now crank it over with Air filter & spark plugs out. Now put in new air filter spark plugs dry wires & coils. And start the car, If car starts don't drive drain transmission change filter. If it did not start you may have done damage to computer or wiring.
But you got to see if engine is locked up if 12 volts is to starter & that no water is in oil or fuel.

My 1997 saturn tuns over but wont start . i have tested every sensor and they are good.

Pull all 4 spark plug wires off at the coils, have someone crank your engine. You should see spark jumping between all 4 coils. If not you probally have a bad crank position sensor failed. If not that Ignition control You can check for fuel pressure at the fuel rail if you have a fuel pressure tester, might check the Inj. fuse located in the underhood fuse block.Hope this helps. Also You may try to push accelerator pedal all the floor this will put the engine in clear flood mode in case it's flooded.

Cant get started

if you say it is getting gas and is firing take spark plugs out it is probably flooded replace them with new plugs before re installing them let the spark plugs stay out for a hour so gas that is in cylinders may evaporate! and if you did flood it pull dip stick if strong gas odour is present you might want to change the oil most times when flooded all the gas runs down in crank case polluting the oil badly smart to change it once you get it running again good luck.
