I just changed the batteries in my Salter scale 2010 and I get: EE. Do you know what that means and how I can get the scale to work? Thanks

The EE code means there is an error, possibly because the replacement batteries are defective or installed incorrectly.

Shows ee and will not come on

EE is an error code. I cant help you with this one , but it means something has failed. Try the Fedders site or a Fedders Agent who may be able to state what the EE code means and then see if you can purchase or obtain a Tech to fit the part required.

How would I enter the following on this calculator? 9.1 EE -31 ? 1 EE 3

Do it exactly as you wrote it. For the negative exponent use the change sign key [ -]. The question is whether you are aware of the meaning of the EE key.
The EE key is a shortcut for x10^. Thus 1EE3=10^3=1000.
As to the other number (the electron mass) its value is 9.1x10^(-31) kg which you enter as you typed it 9.1 [EE] [( -)]31 [=]

HELP, I can't seem to figure out scientific notations with my Texas Instrument TI-30XA. I've searched for hours on the web. Here's the problem: 7.82 x 10^10 / 63.55 = 1.23 x 10^9. But when I input 7.82 x...

Hello,
The error comes from the lack of understanding of the meaning of the notation used by the calculator manufacturers.
The [EE] is a "shorthand" notation for times 10 to the power of .
To convince you of it try entering

1[EE]0 [=] this is 1*10^0=1*1=1
1[EE]1 [=] this is 1*10^1=1*10=10
1[EE]2 [=] this is 1*10^2=1*100=100

When you enter 7.82x10[EE]10
you are calculating
7.82*10*1*10^10=7.82x10^11.

Hope it helps.

What does the ee symbol above the qoutation mark mean

Hello,
What you call a quotation mark is in fact a comma. It is used to separate arguments inside commands that require more than one arguments, or the elements of a list.
The [EE] that you access by pressing [2nd][comma] is very useful in scientific areas of studies such as physics and chemistry. It is a shortcut for times 10 to a power.
If you want to enter Avogadro's number you enter
6.02[2nd][EE]23 [ENTER]
The electon charge is
1.6[2nd][EE] (-)19 [ENTER] . Here the (-) is the change sign key located between [.] and [ENTER]

The [2nd][EE] sequence must always be followed by an exponent even if exponent is 0.
Try these
[2nd][EE] 0 [ENTER] (Surprised? You should'nt be!)
[2nd][EE] 1 [ENTER]
[2nd][EE] (-) 3 [ENTER]

Hope it helps.

When I square 10 it equals 1000 when i use the EE feature

Hello,
To raise 10 to the 2nd power, if you do not have a dedicated key, you use the (^) or (X to the y) or (Y to the x) depending on calculator.

The EE key is a shortcut. It has another meaning
EE 0 = 10^0 =1
EE 1 = 10^1 =10
EE 2 = 10^2 = 100

Thus if you enter 10 EE 2 this is equal to 10 x EE 2=10x 100= 1000.

This is the correct way.

Hope you will remember it : It is the source of much grief to the learners.

Inputing Scientific Numbers

If you mean using the "EE" key it's straightforward.

To enter scientific numbers, enter the number, then press EE, then the exponent value. The TI-30XA will stay in scientific display until you "clear" or turn it off. It will also switch to scientific notation if you multiply big numbers that exceed the display.

E.g. Input 3, EE, 10, X, 3, EE, 10, =, gives you the answer 9 times 10 to the power 20. Press the "square root" key and you will get back 3 times 10 to the power 10.

You can mix entries too, e.g. 3, EE, 10, X, 2, =, gives you 6 times 10 the power 10....
