I have an old computer with 98SE and some specialized software that won't run on newer op sys. I had to replace my HD and reinstall 98SE. Previously, somehow, I had generic drivers for higher resolutions than 640 x 480. Are there any generic drivers for higher resolutions?
Not for 98SE i believe. a great OS but MS most likey deleted those from their servers long ago. if you can find someone else who has a system with 98SE you may be able to copy and install them from them. someone who is really old and smart "CE" maybe could program them:) for you but, you should have backed up your system and drivers before this repair was needed

i think it is because 98se is not compatible with broadband or wireless, you know what i mean, if i were you i would upgrade that OS to xp, very cheap these days
hope this helps

if you need an operating system and would not mind using linux (an alternative to windows) look on the www.puppylinux.com site and see if you would like to try it. the download is about 80meg and it runs very fast on all the computers i have used it with. or try looking on softpedia for a free download of the outdated windows xp install disks. or you can buy some disks from ebay. but i reccomend trying puppy linux, it is free and you have nothing to lose.(the disk is a live boot disk, so it should just run off the cd)
SOURCE: Need a driver for USB2 external hard drive to work with Win98SE
1) the device should have come with install software, use that. if you dont have it try these ->
2) plug it in and go into the Device Manager,
Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager
it might be "unknown" but if it's in there click on it, click on "Install Driver". it will ask you to let it search the web for a driver. allow it to do so. it may or may not find one.
3) OR go to the manufacturers web site and look for the SUPPORT link. you should be able to make your way to the drivers section. they may have one for you.
If these dont work --
What is the make model etc of the device, all the numbers please.
and please gimmie your pc info. make model processor , os, etc
Let me know :)
