to get the digital you have to have the digital optical line or the coax rca jack digital audio connection from device to stereo reciever to get the dolby digital surround sound to work , otherwise you can only get a virtual surround sound from the reciever( no dolby digital )
i have a sharp cd player and the speakers hook up to the cd player and they light up but when i plug in the speakers to play they wont play what should i do
You will not get 'surround sound' from this set only stereo sound. The Video/Aux jack at the back of the unit is an input terminal. You can connect the audio part of your TV(if it has a Line Out jack), dvd player or video game console to this input to get the sound through the stereo system. Use a male-to-male RCA cable to make the connection, they are color coded (Red and White). Press the "Video/Aux" button to select the input terminal.
