Hi Lorinda,

There are a few different reasons why your camera may not be reading the memory card.

Troubleshooting such problems can be a little tricky, especially if no error message appears on your camera's screen.

The cause and solution may include one of the following:

·The card may not be the right type for the camera: First make sure the memory card you are using is compatible with your camera. For example, a SDHC memory card often will not work with older memory card readers. Even though SD memory cards are similar in size and shape to SDHC cards, they use different software for managing the card's data, meaning older readers sometimes cannot recognize the SDHC cards. Sometimes you can solve this issue by updating the memory card reader's firmware to give it the ability to deal with SDHC cards. Check the Web site of the manufacturer for your memory card reader to see if new firmware is available. It is also a good idea to check with your camera's manufacturer (on it's website) to see if an updated version of your camera's firmware is available.

·The card is not fully inserted in the camera. Turn off the camera, insert a card into the slot, then push to seat it.

·The card or a file on the card may be corrupt. Photo file corruption can occur when the battery power is too low when writing a photo file to the card, or when the memory card is removed while the camera is writing a photo file to the card. One way to check if it is the card or your camera is to try moving the memory card to a computer, then try accessing the photo file directly from the computer to see if the file actually is corrupted, or if your camera is just unable to read a particular file.
You can also double check this issue by using another memory card in your camera and see if it works as it should. If the memory card is unreadable on any device, the next step is to reformat the memory card. Look through your camera's on-screen menus to find a "format memory card" command. However, keep in mind that formatting the card will erase all photo files stored on it. Some cameras just work better with a memory card when that memory card is formatted inside the camera. If you do reformat the card, make sure to let the process finish itself before removing the card. Removing a card during formatting may damage the card.

1GB SD memory card problem

Your camera is an old model and can't handle big memory card. Use only 128 or 256MB card in this model.

SD card size

You'd better find some local dealer and try. Newer SD cards use the new SDHC profile which is not supported by the camera. 1G and smaller cards should have no problem but even this largely depends on toshiba's programming ability. 4G and above probably would not work.

Poor exposure when using the flash

I read in another Toshiba forum where some users were putting a small piece of electriacal (black) tape over the flash sensor, and their indoor photos with flash turned out spectacular, since it allows the camera to apply more light . Actually fools the camera but it works. You might want to experiment with it..
