did you try the basics cleaning heads , running test setup for the dot matrix printout out , changing ink sometimes ne packages sold are garbage.

Thermal Paper was fed upside down, I think.

Well according to EPSON the ways you can connect your printer to a computer are RS-232C, IEEE 1284 parallel; RS-485; high-speed USB; 10/100Base-T/TX; wireless. However the way they get you is you have to buy the interface from them. Contact EPSON and see what the cheapest one is. If you're only using it from one computer just a simple parallel cable will do the trick. Did you set it up using Epson's receipt printer drivers? If so, right click on it and choose properties. Under the PORT tab, check and make sure it is set for proper port (LPT1, COM1, USB, etc). If you make changes, click APPLY, then OK. Then Right click, PROPERTIES, Print test Page. If you can't get test page to print, your wasting your time sending codes to printer.

The TM-T88IV printer is a thermal printer and does not have ink or a ribbon.

If the printer is not printing you may have the wrong type of paper in the printer. You must have thermal paper in order for the printer to work. Paper for a dot matrix printer will not work in this printer.

The printer has a self-test that you can perform by turning the printer off, holding down the Feed button and turning the printer on. A test strip will print. Press the Feed button again to print a longer test strip.
