When I bought my last shredder it came with a small bottle of oil. The instructions said to put a few drops of oil on the blades now and then.

I think the oil was actually canola oil.

Read your manual to see if it suggests any lubrication.

Does it sound like the motor is running forward or is it just "dead" when you try to shred paper..... if the motor is running.....then its a gear...but most likely you have lost the pcb in the machine...give Royal a call at 1-800-524-0799 for info on parts and prices.

Have you "oiled" the machine.... put some shredder oil on a piece of paper and shred it....do this a few times to get oil into the cutting blades and see if that helps.
