I have done this job a few times myself.
I would allow yourself a day or two of work, as you will not only need to take the whole machine apart, you will also need to clean all of the internal pieces, and especially the vent pipes.
God bless your efforts.
hi listen a rear of dryer in centre to see if there could be rear bearing push up on inside of drum see if it lifts if so change bearing or could need front bearing pads
Actually, it sounds like you have two problems. The belt and the bearing. The squelling is probably the belt but the screeching is probably the bearing and was the original problem that caused the belt problem.

Make sure the drain hose is not pushed too far down the drain pipe. It could
cause a siphon effect and drain the tub.
Make sure the drain hose is not tight in the drain pipe. It should fit loose so
as not to trap the air which can also cause a siphon effect.
Check the bearing behind the drum assembly, the part against the rear wall is probably worn so low there is metal to metal contact, if so replace bearing.....
