My hot tub works for about 20 mins and clicks the GFI off. Then I reset the GFI and the spa comes on for about 7 mns and trips the GFI again. Is this my heater doing this?

Easy way to test for the heater issue is to disconnect the heater from the board. Disconnect both leads from board and let the spa call for heat. There is also a chance the GFI breaker is bad however most times the heater fails and the breaker is doing its job.

Tripping circuit breaker

Hi Kathy
Sometimes when a breaker keeps tripping, it will wear and will be in need of replacement...try replacing the breaker and see if that solves your problem.
If not then check the amps on the pump and make sure the breaker is able to hand the amperage the pump is requiring.

Heater is not kicking on.

Additional information would be helpful!
Are you receiving any error codes, flashing on the screen or anything when you reset the breaker to the heating unit?
Start by turning the breaker off, then on for the heater. Turn the unit on see if it runs through its start-up sequence, or if you get any type of reading on the display.
It is possible that you have a bad circuit board on the heater.

My hot tub i dont no how too turn it on or turn the heat up

There should be an independent circuit breaker to control the tub, most commonly a 50 amp GFCI breaker. (Has a "test" button on the breaker itself) It is usually located either in the vicinity of the spa in a gray box, or in the main circuit breaker panel of your home. In rare instances, they may have used a "fuseless disconnect" either in the spa equipment compartment, or within the vicinity of the spa. (at least 6 ft. away from spa) The disconnect is simply a removable lever that you pull out to disconnect power to spa. I would advise you search for a breaker or disconnect. If you locate the breaker, switch it off, then back on. If you locate a disconnect, pull it out, ensure that it is inserted in the correct way, then re-connect it. If that doesn't work, check for a GFI on the equipment pack itself. It would have a "test" and "reset" button on it. Press the test, then reset button. You should hear a distinct "click" when the test button is pressed, and the reset button should stay in once pressed after that. If it does test and reset properly and the pump, etc doesn't work, then you have a problem in the control pack. (Either a fuse, or a component that an average consumer cannot diagnose or repair.) That being the case, you should call a qualified spa technician. Hope this helps.

Pump was working fine yesterday popped the breaker

Hi Mohn,

Don't know your geographic location, but where I am we've been in the single digit temperatures for three days. Everything that can freeze has frozen.

If you are in a similar area, even though the water in the spa (I'm assuming the spa pump is being used on a spa) is heated, the pump housing isn't. If it iced up, it could very well cause the problems you describe.

Comment back with some more detail before I continue down what might be the wrong path.

Best regards
Mike

Pool heater runs but the air coming out of the unit is cold.

R3 is not one of the actual error codes, but is part of the computer system. What you can try to do is reset the computer in the heater. First you will need to turn the heater off, then turn off the circuit breaker for the heater. Wait about 15 to 20 minutes then reverse the order, the circut breaker then the heater. Try and start the heater and watch the display panel.

If they R3 reappears, then the problem is the control board for the heater and it will need to be replaced.

New set up

Do you have power at outlet? If yes, check for 120v at control pack (follow cord to terminal board ). If no power at terminals and gfci on cord won't reset then power cord is defective. Replace
