SOURCE: adminstrator password problem

If this is a white and grey screen, before windows starts, it's a system board password. To clear this you will need to contact dell, have your service tag and express code ready, and if you haven't already, you will need to register ownership with Dell. I posted a link at the bottom for phone numbers of Dell's support. Dell is great in the fact that they have a master code for each of their machines.

However, if this is a windows password, which I don't believe it is, you will need to start windows in safe mode by pressing F8 at start up. Then log in under administrator and clear passwords in each user account.

Here's the link, the phone numbers are about half way down the page. You'll just need to give them a call, it won't take very long, I've done it a several times with Dell machines I've purchased at auctions.

SOURCE: reseat the hard drive

shut down the laptop.
then, disconnect the laptop power, and battery.
remove the harddrive, then connect the harddrive firmly back into place.
reconnect power/battery and boot.

SOURCE: time of day clock stopped - DELL Inspiron 1525

Hi,
This is one of the known issues with the Inspiron 1525 computer. The problem is caused by faulty cmos battery. If you computer is in warranty kinldy call Dell to get the same replaced . if the system is out of warranty. You would need to replace the CMOS battery ie below the keyboard.
You can follow the instructions below

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins1525/en/SM/coinbatt.htm#wp1179839

In my past experience, motherboard passwords haven't locked access to the HDD or ODD. They have just limited the motherboard from accessing these things. So by replacing the mobo you should be okay as there would no longer be any restriction on these devices.

Laptop dell 1525 : power on but no hard drive activity, then later turns on normally (window vista ,normal)and then frozen and after restart no hard activity again but power is on???

You can try running the DELL diagnostics which came with the computer or you can download them off another computer from the dell support website.
Once you get in the diagnostics package. Check the Hard drive, there will be a few testing parameters for the disk check them all.
If the hard drive fails in even 1 test, note down the error code and provide it to dell support who will replace the hard disk if it is still under warranty.
If you dont have warranty then you may need to buy a hard-drive yourself and have it fixed.

NTLDR missing in Dell Inspiron 1525 . How to fix this problem??

Tap F12 at boot screen, select the option to restore your hard drive- unless you have the install disks for windows, then you can try doing a repair. The other thing is to check and see if you have a usb memory key in your laptop- I've done that to myself!
