Sony KP-53S65 standby light is blinking. Has smell of a burning component. I opened it up and can see a capacitor in the HV area smoking. Where can I get a schematic and parts? Thanks

  • mtyre Jun 23, 2009

Thanks, I have the schematic now. This is C514 on the G board. It is a ceramic 2KV, but the schematic does not have a capacitance listed for it. Any idea what the value of the capacitor would be?

These caps vary in value based upon factory measurements of the Xray output of the tube. You need to read the value off of the component itself. If it is unreadable, this set should be taken to an authorized service center where the proper equipment is available to insure the correct value.

My sony tv doesnt turn on.

Hi, The blinking lights is an indicator of an internal fault. On some Sony sets, 4 blinks indicate a problem where the video is muted due to a component fault. Since this involve opening the set and doing electronics diagnosis and possibly component/board replacement, you may be better off seeking the services of a qualified TV repair professional. Hope this be of assistance/idea. Post back should you need further information. Good luck and kind regards.

Cant fix my sony KP-53S65

If the TV will not turn on and the red light blinks on the front of the set, it means that the microprocessor has detected a problem in the set and shut the set down. It then blinks the red light a certain number of times, and the number of blinks is the code for why the set has shut off. How many times does the red light blink before repeating?
