You can use a FREE program for the palm OS called minitones, you can yahoo or google it, which will allow you to convert mp3s you have on your SD card or on the phone to a ringtone that you can assign to a contact. minitones.prc

Ive had this same promblem. I had to uninstall Palm desktop and Hotsync Manager and reinstall a different one that I got from the internet.

I just reset it and it work. You can reset it by taking the battery out for a couple of mins, put it back in and it should work just fine.
