The Viking gas stove - 6 burner - clicks constantly -- it won't stop. it has done this for years and usually goes off after a while but now it wont stop clicking. The burner that is not even on click.

Hello,
The problem is one(or more) of the 6 switches that turn on the spark when that burner is turned on is shorted and stays closed (on) all the time.To determine which one it is the front face has to be removed, with THE POWER OFF a meter set to low ohms rating is used to check each switch by removing the wires to it and see which one has continunity (ZERO OHMS) when its off and that switch that slips on the burner valve shaft is the bad switch(s) and needs to be replaced to keep it from sparking all the time.
Please note though, in a perfectly working cooktop all burners spaks at the same time and only the only one that has the gas flowing to it will ignite, that part is normal.

I hope this helps you to repair your cooktop,
Gene

My cook top model PGL98xUC striker won't stop sparking. What can I do to fix it?

Hi madpottery,

I believe your ignition switches have come in to contact with either water or moisture.

Please read my below Tip on how to fix the problem:

If it does not solve your problem, I'd suggest replacing the ignition switches.

Igniter clicking

I have a stove that doesn't light (click) I've replaced the igniters, I've replaced the knobs, and I've replace the box all the igniters and plugged into. There's nothing else to change out and it still doesn't give a spark. I've got gas and electricity but nothing will light

Ignition is clicking all the time, whether the gas is lit or not.

The clicking is the igniter. If it is clicking and not lighting, then you may have to purchase an igniter kit and replace it. the relays can go bad, or igniter fails.

Igniter clicking when all four knobs in off position after water spill

It is possible that once the unit dries out the clicking will stop. If it doesn't, you will need to call someone to have the problem addressed. You will need a spark module and or an ignition switch(s).
