My daughter dropped her Nintendo DS Lite last night and the same problem now exists as described above. The orange light did not come on, the screen went blank, and when she tried to plug it into the charger - the orange light came on but the green light did not. The screen still remained blank. I just tried to use the car battery charger and the orange light came on and is remaining on but still no screen. What do you suggest?

Quite honestly...

I know that this is probably not the answer you guys want to hear about this issue...

You're going to have to contact Nintendo and make good on your warranty on this one. Just tell them that the unit is no longer charging and that you 'don't know why'. They should have no real problem replacing it for you.

This is most likely an internal electronics issue that no expert here is going to be able to advise on.

Unfortunately the internet still isn't good enough that we can do solder jobs over our internet connections. :P

=THIS IS NOT A PROPOSED FIX. DO NOT RATE ME FOR IT=
Otherwise, if you wish to persist in trying to fix your problem, the only thing that I can tell you is to either try using someone else's charger adapter, buy a new adapter OR use an adapter that works and hold it at different positions in the DS Lite to see if any position will charge it. If you are succesful at charging it in this manner then the port you plug the charger into may be loosened.

===DO NOT RATE ME FOR THIS POST. IF YOU GIVE ME A POOR RATING FOR THIS POST I WILL DISPUTE IT WITH THE FIXYA STAFF AND ASK THAT IT BE REMOVED. I AM NOT ATTEMPTING TO SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM BUT AM GIVING YOU ADVICE ON WHAT YOUR BEST BET IS. I WILL however accept a GOOD rating if it is given - naturally. LOL===

Cyryl

Hi there . heres a solution for this issue (orange light comes on and off in a few seconds),it wors for me with 5 simple steps
1.- Remove Battery
2.- Open the DS Lite from were's the touch screen
3.- Try to locate the power cables that supply the main board , they are 4 cables , see if one are unplug an conect...
4.- now with the DS Lite open conect the charger .. and if orange light come's on for more than 5 seconds ... congrats... you fix it !!!
5.- Close your DS and have a nice play ..

If you do these steps and have the same problem its pretty sure your DS Lite had a broken mainboard ... you can get one at Ebay.

My ds lite is broken

How does it charge? If the orange charge light stays on for only a short time and than turns off, you may need a new battery. Rechargeable batteries lose their capability of holding a charge. I would suggest trying a friend's battery and see if it resolves the problem.

DS lite was dropped and now it won't work.

They usually don't work properly after they've been dropped. Nintendo carries a 1 year warranty, they will replace it for free (but not if you've used cheat codes (Action Reply), etc). I wouldn't mention that you've dropped it when calling them.

Nintendo DS Lite will not turn on.

There may be a problem with the battery itself. The same thing happened to my sister's DS. You could take it to a repair shop, and for about $70 - $90 they will fix it. That in my opinion is better than
buying a new one for about $200.

Hope it helps~

Nintendo DS Lite won't come on

@JoepIt, you have a defective LCD screen. Could be upper of lower (I thing for 99% the upper).

@pietras1422, on the mainboard next to the power-switch, there is a resistor. If could be loose or is missing completely. Problem will occur when the DS Lite is dropped to the ground

Dropped Nintendo DS Lite on wooden floor - NOW IT WON'T TURN ON

remove the battery for a few mins and put it back in and try again?
Its a long shot but theres very little you can do with this, the insides of the DS lite are REALLY small and the only replaceable parts are the screen, buttons, etc. and you cant really fix damage to the board or chips inside which presumably is whats happened here if you get zero response.
Sorry.. :(
