SOURCE: LG "NO PICTURE" , IF FIX WILL RECUR? ,DID LG FIX DESIGN FLAW 42PC3D

I had same problem - no picture, but sound worked - LG 42PC3d - was two months past warranty, but LG agreed to fix it as a warranty call. Service guy was out within a week to replace the Z SUS(?) board. Works fine now. This must be a typical problem, as LG did fix it, even though the warranty had expired. Good luck.

SOURCE: LG 42PX4MVH PLASMA TV - Sound but no picture.

I have the same issue with my LG 42PC3DVA and I narrowed it down to the Y SUS board. After a little research there are a few items that are prone to go. The ceramic fuses (as you found), sometimes the capacitors on the Y SUS, Z SUS, and power supply go along with them You can tell because thy will be bulged at the top instead of flat. I replaced a few of my capacitors - they are only $0.89 each so it was MUCH cheaper than a board.

The other thing that is common on the Y SUS in particular are the FETs (also called MOSFET). They can be replaced if you are good with a soldering gun but they are static sensitive so be grounded. They are also a bit tricky to test so you may want to do some research on how to determine if this is the issue... or you can just replace the whole board.

What circuit board might cause the following problem in my TV?

One of the most likely causes is a bad main board. If this went out during or shortly after a thunder storm the main board was probably damaged. You also could have a bad Y-sus board or a bad X-sus board causing the same symptom but these are not as prone to being damaged by a power surge.

My plasma LG TV was working fine , I was in a hurry and turned off the remotes, might of pressed wrongbuttons, any way Now the tv is totally Black - no picture, I have sound to all the channels they all...

Honestly you are probably looking at needing the Y-sus and X-sus boards replaced in the tv..plasmas take two boards with very high voltages to ignite the plasma gas in the screen. Ebay is a good place to look for used tv parts and just be careful replacing them..VERY HIGH VOLTAGE! Other than that, it's just plug and play...out with the old and in with the new.

LG Plasma 42pc3d turns on, pops, then turns off

The first thing you should look into is the Z-SUS board, the one situated on the right side viewed from the rear. This board develops a high voltage during operation that might be the source of the popping sound. It is also responsible in refreshing the panel for proper picture display. The weird colors on your TV indicates a faulty Z-SUS board.
Note: Unplug the TV and wait for at least five minutes in order to allow the voltages to drain before you disconnect or reconnect any connector.

  • Disconnect the Z-SUS board from the Y-SUS board. The Z-SUS board is situated on the right side viewed from the rear of the TV while the Y-SUS is on the left.
  • Plug the TV back and turn it on.
  • You will still be able to see the weird colors the moment the TV shut off but do not flash. If it does not pop and stays on and there's a sound, you are pretty sure the Z-SUS board is faulty. Replace it.
  • If it still pops and shuts off, disconnect the Y-SUS board from the power supply. The Y-SUS board also develops a high voltage during operation. The power supply is the one right between the Z and Y-SUS boards.
  • Re-apply AC power then turn the TV on.
  • You'll not be able to see any color or video. If it does not pop and stays on with sound, you have a faulty Y-SUS board, replace it.
  • If it still pops and shuts off, please let me know.
Feel free to update me of the result and your own findings.

Picture covered with big block of black - 3/4 of the screen ???

It sounds like your tv may require a plasma panel, but to be sure remove the back of the tv unit and check the y-sus printed circuit board as well as the z-sus printed circuit board, check that they are getting the correct voltage and that there are no blown compoments on the boards themselves. The boards names, z-sus and y-sus are written on the board as well as the voltages are listed down the side of where the plugs at the boards meet. Good Luck. Oh , and also, check with LG that it doesnt require a software upgrade.

Tv made a loud pop sound then went black...sound and all functions are normal just no picture

This is a common failure in many PLASMAs. One of the boards in the TV blew. Most likely It is going to be the Y-sus but could have also taken out the Z-sus(sometimes called the X-sus) and the Y-drives. These boards put and maitian the picture on the screen. The best way to tell is to check the voltages on the boards to see how extensive the damage was but I would defintly start with the Y-sus.

Hi all..i had the same problem with my 42 inch LG
rz42px11. its a faulty zsus board(Z sustain part no 6871QZH033A) the pop
sound was the fuse on the board blowing.not that hard to replace but be careful with the connector ribbons! got my replacement from
https://www.chsinteractive.co.uk/ £150....expensive,but probably cheaper than
calling someone out to fix it.
P.S i tried just to replace the fuse on the board T2AH 250v but it blew,i think the fact the fuse blows means the board is faulty..but you could try.
hope this helps someone.

Lg 50px4d pdp tv

This is a very common problem with model. This problem is your Z sus Board. NOT your power supply, or Y sus board. There is a pair of Diode that goes bad. Your only solution is to change your Z sus Board. Part Number 6871QZH036B average cost $237.00
