T3626 Same issue here!! As soon as Vista OS starts to load it turns off. Choosing safe mode, it turns off. When you boot from Vista DVD, turns off. Customer said they took it to a the major chain store they bought it from and the tech informed them it's just now out of warranty. He opened the case, looked in, and said the motherboard had bumps and they needed a new one. So apparently it's a known issue. I'll prolly get a different mobo for it.

Shut your computer all the way down. As soon as you turn it on, start hitting F8 about 3-4 times, that will take you to an advanced options menu. Select "Last known good configuration" and that should work

I have an acer aspire laptop with genuine vista os. i didnt operate for quit sometime and now, when i wanted to use it. it even didnt boot giving me a message. 'boot manager missing'. what is the problem...

If your Windows Vista computer has encountered the dreaded "BOOTMGR is missing" error, you aren't alone. If the problem isn't hardware related you can fix it with relative ease as long as you have a Windows Vista DVD handy.Boot off the Windows Vista DVD and then click Next at the first prompt:You should see a link in the lower left-hand side for "Repair your computer"The installation process will attempt to find your Vista installation directory. If there's more than one in the list, select the correct one and then use the Next button again.Click the first link for "Startup Repair".The installation process will repair the system, and then prompt for you to reboot.Alternatively you could have chosen the Command Prompt option instead, and use the following command to fix the boot options only:
bootrec /fixboot.

At this point you should be able to reboot your computer, remove the DVD and everything should be working.

I turned off my video Controller while trying to get the dvd drive to work with a dvd I had copied because it said I had dv enabled that prevented it.. Now the screen is blank after booting into Windows in...

Acer Gateway it is, (owned by too)
NO OS stated,
why in the world post lacking such key fact?
my guess , you forgot and not its dead.
so reload the OS,
or F8 safe mode, load the gateway driver, from gateway.com
go there get it and put it on a USB stick
then in F8 go to device manager,
and click update video chip, there, and pick my driver from my media option , go to usb stick and load your driver.

i the internet is dead, now.
use F8 Safe mode, with internet,
then click driver update on video chip and it updates from MS.com using PnP plug and pry.

but again NO OS stated, i can see its XP,vista,w8 for sure
but which one?
what did PC come with
did you upgrade the PC's OS ever.

or buy w7 from MS.com and load it.
Gateway does not sell old install disc's, no OEM does.

Laptop restarts over and over

Is it Win XP or Vista? hit F8 and see if you can get into Safe Mode, if you can goto start , run and type msconfig, disable all and reboot.

If you cant get into to safe mode, hit F8 when computer turns on and scroll to Last Known Good Configuration. see if lets you in.
If you are running Win XP and none of that works. You will have to run your XP CD and do an OS repair, just load the XP CD at boot when setup starts hit ( Enter F8 then R) let it do its thing. Hope this helps Good Luck.

Windows vista will not load

I wouldn't suggest Vista OS because it is very buggy.. but try booting into safe mode by pressing f8 when the computer first starts up. Keep pressing it so you dont miss it then boot into safe mode and try to diagnose why it didnt start correctly

Computer crashed, won't go to windows

Hi,

When you start you computer, after the bios flash. press the F8 on your keyboard before the Windows start loading. You should have an option to select to go to safe mode.

Select the safe mode option only. See if it will load the Windows under the safe mode option. If it did load the Windows under safe mode. There is an issue loading the driver of your Windows O.S. that i why its not booting under the Normal mode. Sometimes this is cause also by a Virus on your computer. You can run the Anti-Virus program under Safe mode to check for viruses

To fix this you may need the Original Disc of Windows O.S.
You can reboot the computer. Load the disc make sure that under the Bios option the CD drive is the first boot. Then save it.
after rebooting. Follow the on screen instruction on how to repair the O.S. There should be an option to repair the O.S. when you boot the computer using the Windows O.S. Disc

Note:
If you could do a backup of your files, do it first before repairing the O.S.

If it will not resolve the issue, you will have to reformat your computer.
