When I am inside or outside and looking through the LCD screen it goes from light to dark continuously back and forth like it is trying to adjust for too much or too little light. It has never done it this much before.

To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

Hold down the Menu button on the front of the printer for a few seconds and watch for the contrast on the LCD panel to start changing. Keep holding it down (screen will cycle continuously from light to dark until you let go) until you get to the desired contrast then let go.
The back light is the whole of the screen, the screen is illuminated by a CCFL lamp (fluro tube) on the bottom of the screen. A inverter supplies high voltage to this CCFL lamp. If
your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LED flashes, then the
problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faulty inverter or a
faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow my instructions
to identify the fault and possible fix :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3598095-faulty_laptop_lcd_screen
Cold cathode lights behind the LCD screen are dead or dying. If you like the screen go on ebay and look for the cathode light kit if available. You can search google for replacing the lights on a LCD screen and its pretty straight forward. If its not worth your time just buy a new screen, but replacing the long skinny bulbs will make it like new.
