When I first bought it a few months ago, I checked that it turned on and off and left it in the off position. Collected a bunch of papers to shred and now absolutely nothing happens. I've never actually used it.
SOURCE: Shredder will not work
try resetting the shreddar, unplugging it then plugging it back in, also is the unit properly mounted on the shredding bin? also you could try oiling the cutters to make the paper go through more easily....make sure no paper or papre clips are stuck in paper shreddar also....try it in reverse to see if anything is stuck...if this all fails if you hav ea warranty now would be a good time to call the warranty company

Rick,
This TS4500 shredder had been discontinued for more than 5 years. The factory did not make any spare parts for this model.
Thanks,

took the shredder section apart, cleaned out the gears of paper and a broken mount (plastic piece), and hand turned the electric motor to free it up. After assembly, the ready light works and so does the FWD/REV directions for shredding.

Some shredders aren't designed to shred anything more than paper. Credit cards, staples, paper clips and the like could have jammed it up. Try running the shredder in reverse and oiling the blades. More help with paper shredder oil here: http://hubpages.com/hub/Paper-Shredder-Oil
If you can't get the paper shredder up and running, it looks like you might have to pick up a new paper shredder. Paper shredders can be pretty cheap though, great guide to cheap paper shredders here: http://hubpages.com/hub/Best-Paper-Shredders

Remove the cutting head...remove the top plastic cover to gain access to the inside...clear paper from inside and reassemble.
