SOURCE: Maximum cpu speed for a matsonic ms8137c?

The Matsonic MS8137C uses the VIA KT266A chipset thus you'll be limited to a processor with a 100~133Mhz side bus frequency (FSB) alternatively referred to as a 266FSB chip.

The Athlon XP3000 uses a 166 dual FSB (alternatively refered to 333FSB) so even if you could get it to run it wouldn't be able to stretch it's legs being limited to the chipset's maximum FSB Vs. CPU multiplier.

Presuming your motherboard will support it (and I imagine it would), the maximum CPU you'll be able to run at full spec is a Thoroughbred 2600+ AXDA2600DKV3C (there is also a D prefix chip that uses 166Mhz FSB you don't want this one).

Early AMD Athlon processor specifications can be found HERE

Additionally you may need to also update your motherboard's BIOS version to take full advantage of any revisions (and subsequnet CPU support enhancements)
