Question about Compaq Presario 700 470024-192 Notebook
How to add dlink dsl 2750u model no manufacturer's list in compaq wireless network connections router list?
SOURCE: Network card
This should have a Lan port on the right hand side (next to the modem port) if this is not present, then you model does not have one.. (as it was only on selected models)
This Laptop does have a PCMCIA/Cardbus slots so you could buy a PCMCIA Network card (wired or wireless) or you could use a USB Wired or Wireless adapter.
for wireless you will also need a wireless adsl router to connect to your DSL internet

SOURCE: no wifi
You need to get a wireless adaptor your laptop did not come with wireless built in. You can get a USB adaptor or a PCMCIA adaptor. Either will work but the pcmcia adaptor will be a little faster
Have a look here

Hope that helps

SOURCE: Compaq EVO N400c without wireless capabilities will external wirelss card work?
http://www.everythingusb.com/hardware/index/Linksys_Wireless-G_USB_Network_Adapter.htm
This is just one source. I did a google search for USB wireless adapters. They are used by many users. Generally these units cost the same whether online or at the local Radio Shack, etc. because of shipping.

SOURCE: cant connect wireless
If the stick is the solution, why are you avoiding the solution?
From what you have said, the internal wifi in the Evo doesn't work, while
an external usb stick does.
Assuming that your internal wifi is properly configured and functional, it is
incapable of picking up your home wifi signal, though it might be functional in other situations ... Buying an external usb stick gives you a better antenna position and takes nothing away from your system, while adding functionality and sheilding the innards of your system from viral
attack as a first line of attack that is detachable.
Buy the USB stick.
