This is a general problem, not specific to your camera.

Inside your camera, there's a memory card. In your case an SD card. This card has a slider that can be toggled between two positions. Your card's slider is in the "protected" position, and means you can't write to the card. This position is used when you want to be sure you don't overwrite important files (in your case pictures).

The sliders on these cards sometimes change positions when you jam them into a card reader - which might be what happened here?

Simply take the card out, find the slider, and slide it over to the other position. Insert it into the camera, taking care to not slide it into the protected position again, and you should be all set to take pictures!

my SD memory card write protect button is so loose I had to put a sticker over it to stop it switching. Big danger of this causing the memory stick to jam in so be careful.

I have TECHNIKA SH-A366 when I switch this on this message comes on the screen CARD ERROR and it wont allow me to take any pictures please someone help me solve this problem.

It sounds like the memory card (what stores the photos) may be faulty, not inserted correctly or may need cleaning. There should be a memory card slot on the side or underneath the camera. Once you have found the slot push the memory card and it should click out of place. Give the memory card a quick blow and reinsert it, if the error still appears it may be the fact that the memory cards capacity is too large for the camera to handle or is incompatible. If you have another memory card, try that. Comment if you still have an issue. Good luck :)

Protected card

Hi Jen,

It sounds like your memory card is locked. To unlock do the following:

  1. Remove the memory card from the camera.
  2. On one side of the card will be a switch.
  3. Change the switch to unlocked by pulling up or down.
  4. Replace the card in the camera.

The card should now be unlocked.
Now you will be able to take pictures (If the memory card was the problem)
Enjoy!!

KInd regards!!!

I Have a Technika SH-C350 Digital camera.Every time I switch it on all I get on the screen is Media Error.I cannot take any pictures.

Have you formatted the card in the camera? Download any pictures from it first using a card reader if necessary because formatting will erase it.

New laptop with windows vista installed. Model compatable with windows 2000/XP. Can this be resolved and allow me to transfer files from my camera to my laptop. Make Technika Model SH-A366

My fuji S700 said to NOT format the memory card and it worked either through the cable download, or by loading the card into the cardreader in the computer. It worked flawlessly under XP, but upon switching to Vista (also on a Gateway), the card must be formatted (before taking pictures) instead of like before. I think it is a Vista thing.
Now I just plug it (the camera) into a DVD burner and burn to disk, and then load the images to the computer, and have a hard copy before Vista has the chance to screw it up and loose anything.
