Often, the "test-page" shows "everything", such as percentage of toner remaining,
number of pages printed, model-number, and serial-number.

Here are a couple tips that can clear the old serial number for you.

First, clear all your cookies from your browser. You can do this by clicking on tools, Internet options, and delete browsing history. This will give you the option to clear cookies, history as well as temp. pages.


After this is done, close the browser and reopen. Go directly to Lexmark website and choose support, register product.

You will now have a clean line to enter the new serial number.

I have a Lexmark Optra E310 printer that works fine with the following Vista printer drivers:

Lexmark Optra E312 (MS)
Lexmark Optra E312 PS.

You need to go to lexmarks web page and see if Lexmark has the drivers for that printer. Some of their old ones will not work with Vista.
