I didn't see a complete engine assembly at Poulan. Ask them.

A new cylinder and piston are about $75.00, plus shipping, if available here:

An inquiry for repair at a local saw shop might be worth an inquiry.

An entire new saw PP4218 is $150.00 @ Walmart.
Did you borrow someone else's saw and run it on straight gas? HTH

SOURCE: HOW DO U AJUST CARB ON A POULAN CHAINSAW 36.CC

Start with "H & L" at 1,5 CCW from lightly seated then tune for performance like this:
Carburetor Adjustment by Madsens.com
http://www.madsens1.com/saw%20carb%20tune.htm
CW is leaner; to lean will destroy the saw. If over tightened closed (CW) the adjustment screw faces are easily marred; marred adjustments are difficult to impossible to set properly.
Clean the air filter; adjusting with a dirty filter can cause a run lean condition once cleaned and the saw run.

There are 2 wav (sound - idle & full – may not be highlighted) files that I find most helpful, I think you will too. I hope this is helpful

SOURCE: Chain will not stop spinning

I would say it has an air leak, through a gasket or crank seal, make sure the carb is tight and sealing properly.

What is the nominal max rpm for the Craftsman model 358-351910-18 42 cc 18 inch chainsaw? I assume it is the same as the corresponding Poulan model.

As you mentioned, Craftsman chainsaws are often manufactured by Poulan, and they may share similar specifications with corresponding Poulan models. However, without specific documentation or further details, it's challenging to provide an exact RPM value for this particular model.
To obtain accurate and reliable information about the nominal maximum RPM for the Craftsman chainsaw, I recommend referring to the owner's manual or contacting the manufacturer directly. They will be able to provide you with the precise specifications for this specific model.

I have a 42 cc chainsaw, it will fire up, but once I touch the trigger it dies on me. Any solutions?

Its running too lean, there is either a blockage in the fuel tank filter, or in the carb itself, you must check all these things before adjusting the carb mixture. Remove the filter fronm inside the tank and replace, if no better remove the carb, remove the alloy pump cover and clean the internall filter under the pump diaphram.

42 CC Hoemlite chainsaw runs but when hot it does not accelerate, chokes out, I need to adjust the "H" "screw" and need a tool to do so.

These jets are pre-set from the factory .they interlock with each other.make sure the air vents on flywheel side are not blocked. You will probably have to rebuild or replace carb.
