Hello. There is a hardware failure with the laptop not the AC charger. AC chargers have some range of protections of their own. If the power requirements of the laptop are bigger then what the charger can handle, the charger will turn off. Also other parameters can bring the charger offline. In your case, you have a problem with a small chip, the battery charge controller unit, witch regulates the amount of current required to propperly charge the battery. When this thing fails, the charging requirements for the battery are reported rong and the AC charger is forced to give more power then necesary. This results in disconnection of the AC charger ( an internal fail safe of the
AC charger) and the laptop to swich back to battery power. When the laptop is turned off, it can charge the battery because the power requirements are low, having all processor, main board, hard disk etc turned off. Therefore the AC charger can handle the load. However you will need to have it checked by a service center as it is a hardware fault. Both AC charger and laptop needs that check.
The charge controll circuit needs to be replaced probably. It will be a somewhat expensive repair. Don't buy any other battery untill you have the laptop checked.

that sounds motherboard problem, maybe GPU.

yeah, make sure the CPU is not getting heated, check for any loose connections, check the power supply is working, if this is a new computer and it has warranty, I advise to take it back and have it checked or replaced by a professional.

Please check the adapter for voltage, if absent check the adaptor.

Also check the battery voltage, is lower than marked then replace if the charging does not improve.

Finally if both the battery and adaptor is working fine then the hardwre of the laptop is faulty , possible the main board or power supply within. Take help from Acer support for estimate.

Sir, form the symptoms I believe that the Battery is completely dead, the system is unable to identify the battery. If possible try checking the battery with a similar model, and the the system should be all set to go.

You cannot visually inspect laptop components to verify component level damage. You may have damages something in the motherboard tracers, or popped a solder loose, or worse, created a micro fracture in one of the surface mounted chips.

Before going further, i would suggest you thoroughly test the battery, or power supply for charging the laptop, as well as make sure the power connector jack on the motherboard is not damaged in any way. If the jack is the problem, they are quite easy to replace, but knowledge with soldering on delicate components may be necessary.

I would have suggested requesting an RMA if the laptop was still under warranty, but by removing the motherboard to inspect it, you have voided any warranty you may have had.

Ckeck if your adaptor has power on the connector to laptop.

Might be damaged power cord (to and from the adaptor) or broken adaptor.

While there was power in the battery, it was running, but not charging.
Now the battery is emty and can't be charged because of broken adaptor/cables.
If you find there is no power from the adaptor, bepair it or buy a new one.

Do not try to repair the adaptor by yourself if you are not a technician, it is DANGEROUS !
Either give it to a qualified servicer, or betteer, buy a new one.
