Insert the correct Map disc. This often happens when you buy a Japanese Import that was made for the Japanese Market and the car finds itself in America or Australia and realizes via its GPS signal that it is in the wrong country, so it asks for the correct Map Disc to update itself. Or you disconnected the battery.

I trust it is in a Toyota as OEM equipment and not purchased used and fitted to a 1989 Honda Civic? They are monitored by the Toyota BCM Computer network.

I experience a similar thing, however I realized that I had the wrong CD Rom. Pls ensure that you have the correct cd for you locality, hope this helps.

where did you get the disc?

you need to make sure the DVD is from the correct region. most US DVD players are region 1. It will say on the DVD and on the back of the player

If you are referring to the Navigation system that comes in Toyota/Lexus, unfortunately it looks like your disk is damaged! In which case you will have to look to the dealership or if you're lucky, ebay for a replacement. You might just be very lucky and somehow the disk just needs to be re-inserted. Maybe a bump in the road messed it up. Try ejecting the disk (if there is even one in it) and reinserting. Basically the unit is looking for the navigation DVD. Hope that helps!
