I found a couple of codes that may be the cause here is the first one and the seond right under it thay seem to point to the EGR or EVR valve pressure issues it might need replacing. this is the 327 code can't find more than 3 digits for a Ford error code
Electronic pressure transducer (EPT)/differential pressure feedback exhaust (DPFE) sensor/electronic vacuum regulator (EVR)
327 (O,R,M) EGR feedback signal is/was low - EVR or PFE
you might be getting 2 three digit error codes as Ford only has 2 and 3 digit codes form all the sites I've checked. a 116 code is this
Out of range Engine coolant temperature sensor (ECT)
I hope this helps some

My 1997 ford thunderbird lx check engine light flashed on and off then it stayed on

If a problem happens 3 times in a row the engine light will come on. Then the code must be read in order to find out what needs to be fixed. Auto Zone will read the code for you at no charge, if you don't have a reader.

Ford Code P1505 for 1994 Ford Thunderbird Lx

Adaptive Idle Air Control Strategy

The Adaptive Idle Air Control (IAC) strategy is designed to adjust the IAC calibration to correct for wear and aging of components. When engine conditions meet the adaptive strategy learning requirement, the strategy monitors the engine and determines the values required for ideal idle calibration. The adaptive strategy stores these values in a table for reference. This table is used by the PCM as a correction factor when controlling idle speed. The adaptive idle table is stored in Keep Alive Memory (KAM) and retains the learned values even after the engine is shut off. A Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) is output to indicate that the adaptive IAC strategy has reached its learning limits.

Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P1505 indicates the IAC system has reached the adaptive clip.

Possible causes:

-- Air leaks.

-- Plugged air filter element.

-- Throttle body/linkage binding.

-- Contaminated or damaged IAC valve assembly.

-- Damaged throttle body.

How do you set the service engine soon light on a 97 Ford Thunderbird?

The light can only be reset with a OBD2 Diagnostic tool. You can run by your local Advance Auto/Autozone and they will do that for you usually free of charge.
Hope this helps

I have a 97 ford thunderbird lx and the service engine soon light is on. i need it smogged soon but in order to do that, i need that light off. sometimes if i let my car warm up and drive it extremely slow...

If the light is on there are DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes stored in the PCM - engine computer ! Take it to a parts store an tell them your check engine light is on an you would like to know what codes are stored . They will tell you what the problem is , an be glade to sell you parts . That's how you get the light off !

Service engine light

On your particular vehicle, you should be able to pinpoint your problem rather easily. Locate your diagnostic port underneath your dash. Once your located your diagnostic port, use a paper clip as a "jumper" between the two terminals on the top, right-hand side of your diagnostic port. once you have the paper clip in plac, turn your ignitiong to the "On" position, NOTE: MAKE SURE NOT TO TURN THE IGNITION TO THE "START" POSITION WHILE DIAGNOSTIC PORT IS BEING JUMPED. Upon turning the key to the "On" position, you should be able to could the number of times the check engine light blinks.
  1. The code(s) stored in memory may be read through counting the flashes of the dashboard warning lamp. The dash warning lamp should begin to flash Code 12. The code will display as one flash, a pause and two flashes. Code 12 is not a fault code. It is used as a system acknowledgment or handshake code; its presence indicates that the ECM can communicate as requested. Code 12 is used to begin every diagnostic sequence. Some vehicles also use Code 12 after all diagnostic codes have been sent.
  2. After Code 12 has been transmitted 3 times, the fault codes, if any, will each be transmitted 3 times. The codes are stored and transmitted in numeric order from lowest to highest.
Hope this helps! Have a great day!
