Fan always runs, speed doesnt change (low/high), setting humidity level doesnt impact...is this a control board or circuit board issue?

Verify the humidity reading with another device. Perhaps the humidity sensor is dirty or bad.

Another possibility is the switching device that runs the compressor and fan is shorted. If it's a mechanical relay, the contacts may have welded together, or if it's a solid-state relay, it's got a punch-through or meltdown in a device junction. My guess is it's a mechanical relay since you mention it used to click on and off and now you don't hear that. The relay may be on the control board, or it may be mounted separately - I don't have a photo or diagram of the inside of your model available.

Followed turn on instructions in manual.CO display 2 days. continually. Unit gets Very warm & fan runs if turned off. Have to unplug to stop. Unit used approx.3 mo in '14 & just restartd this week.

could you be mistaking the room humidity indicator for the time? reason I ask is on these one display units this happens more frequently than Id care it too , the one display shows both time and room humidity also set point humidity , the only way one can tell is on some models there is a tiny light that shows up next to labeled function , easy to miss It , also if your machine is sort of new (last few years) it has been decided that it's more efficient to let the circulation fan run all the time , regardless of room humidity . this makes it a little annoying (noise) but they do cycle the compressor to regulate the room humidity

I cant change humidity levels

Hi Ra Ma,
After you have set the desired humidity, the readout will display the actual room humidity. It has a built in hygrometer which will be on the display while it is running.
You change it and it shows the actual levels.

See page 5 on manual.

Humidity sensor

It may be right. Are you sure you need dehumidification?

Put a free-standing humidity meter near the unit to check.

If you still want to run the dehum, take the humidity sensor out of the line and control the unit with a timer.

Fan runs but compressor does not come on or stay on long enough to reduce desired humidity level

Three things can cause the problem you're having:

1. A dirty or clogged air intake filter.

2. The humidity extraction level (percentage) is set to high. Lower it to 35%. Or minimal if you don't have an LED display.

3. Not enough clear air space around the unit. Maintain a minimum of 12" clear space around the entire unit.

Number 1, should become a part of a every two week routine maintenance program.

Hope this helped you solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

Is this a low temp model, as it is not dehimidifiying but fan is running

The model you have was made by Fedders for Maytag. The fan runs as a recirculating fan, to continually sense when the humidity level rises, above what have the unit set on. Here in, may be the problem. If you have the humidity level set higher than 50%, that's pretty high and the unit want remove much if anything. It will just continue to maintain that level. Keep in mind, the unit's humidity level must be set LOW, for the compressor to kick on and start removing humidity. By low, I mean 35% or minimum, if your unit does not have an LCD display.

I must caution you, that there is associate on this website that would tell you, that the level should be set on Maximum. Believe me, that simply is not the case. That is, unless you want your home to be hot and humid.

Hope this helps you to troubleshoot and solve the problem.

Unit runs a lot. Doesn't condense much water. Sometimes fan runs alone, sometimes compressor runs alone.

You may also want to check the coils and make sure they do not have dirt or dust on them. If they are clean you may have an issue with the refrigerant level which will cause the coils not to cool properly. For that you will want to contact LG. There could be an issue with the compressor also. LG backs alot of their models with a 5 year warranty. Contact them and let them know about your issue. Make sure you still have your reciept.
