Has anyone had a problem with an HDMI to HDMI converter/extractor on a PT-53TW53?

I have a TiVo Premiere hooked up to my Panasonic PT-53TW53. I use the HDMI out, and RCA R+L outputs on the TiVo, and hook up to the digital in connections on the TV. The conversion of the HDMI out is via an HDMI to DVI cable. This has worked perfectly for years, but recently I wanted to disconnect the TiVo and replace with my Roku or Amazon Fire TV. Both have a single HDMI output. So I purchased an AGPtek HDMI to HDMI + SPDIF + RCA L / R Audio Extractor Converter (HDMI input,HDMI+ Audio output) box, hooking up the HDMI output from the Roku or Fire TV to the input on the extractor/converter, and simply disconnecting the HDMI to DVI and RCA R+L outputs from the TiVo, and plugging them into the outputs on the converter/extractor. The converter/extractor has a 3 position switch: PASS, 2CH audio, or 5.1CH (via and SPDIF or Toslink cable). I have had 2 of these converter/extractors, and with both the Roku and Fire TV I got the same results with both converter/extractors: With the switch on 2CH, which is where I understand I should get HDMI video and 2CH RCA audio, all I get is the RCA audio. No video. If I switch to PASS I get video with no audio. Of course on the 5.1 setting I get nothing, since the TV does not support SPDIF. Yet I see reviews all over Amazon indicating folks are using this converter/extractor for this very purpose, and it is working fine. I can't possibly imagine that it is some sort of incompatibility issue with the TV, since the TiVo has worked (and continues to) fine for years. Any ideas?

SOURCE: HDMI Signal gone

The HDMI interface may have suffered a malfunction, this offten happens due to stray voltages on the ground plane. If you do not have electronics experience I would suggest taking the set to the shop and having it repaired

No ,
Fisrt I need more info, what source of input or you using, video 1, 2 etc... or is it your calbe connection input.
If you or using av cable's, witch I would, connected to source input 1 with video in and two audio in and go to the ptv menue and put in on source input 1.
This should work if it doesn't then you may have cabling problem, ptv problem or cable box problem.
First start by suspecting cable problem, swap the cable to see if you get picture, if not try a differenct source of input a dvd, it should solve your problem

SOURCE: PT-52LCX65-K Panasonic rear-projection LCD No Sound

My panasonic did the same thing. turns out my coaxial cable hooking up the cable from the wall was bad. Once i unhooked it from the wall, the sound popped. I wiggled it a little on the receiver end on the wall and got sound. So try replacing your cable box cord and see if it fixes it.

SOURCE: No video with HDMI port

try 2 things, first use the rgb cables or video (yellow) cable and plug it into the tv using one of the imports..(vid 1,2,3 etc...) and see if that works. then check to see if you get a picture by not using the cable box, by pass it and connect it connect it in the uhv channel. also make sure you have it on the right input of the tv (meaning scroll through the input button on your remote to find the picture...i've done this a million times). still no picture try your dvd player input and if you have a vhs input see if that works. if it is the hdmi input...to be honest it's expensive and a pain to replace...

Ps3 hook up to panasonic PT-53WX54J

If none of the connections on the set work look for a menu on the unit in the owner manual for the PS3---it may be a selectable setting in that that is causing this problem--also try the PS3 on another set to make sure it is ok.

Panasonic PT-53TW53; Red shadows appear and then the t.v. shuts down.

The convergence output IC's have failed. Only fix is to replace them. These are large amplifier IC's bolted to heatsinks and have a high failure rate in all projection sets.
