Shreadmaster 1036 S was dropped and will not turn on jump past switch and it runs
Hi, well whenever an item is dropped it can cause real damage, with the fax in particular, whenever they are dropped, usually the crack out around the main power and drivers heatsinks, other places can happen too. Often there are cracks that are very difficult to find, and can take a long time, read $, to find and fix, if indeed it can be.
Also,or instead of, it may have dislodged some connections or plugs etc. One would have to open the unit up to inspect, however before opening up, if one want's to DIY, one would have to obtain a service and repair manual, for your exact make and model, this would show you how to get into it, what to do and where to look etc.
However in reality,it is most likely a problem that has to be attended to by a professional, you need to take the unit in for repair, when there, please ask first for a "Quote" this way you can get an idea of costings and can then make a decision as to repair or replace.
Often with a dropped unit, the damage is great, and uneconomic to fix, accordingly, some of my customers then prefer to put any monies that would have been spent on repairs, towards a NEW unit, with a warranty.
