If your software send just the job with the defult setings from the printer, ajust speed on the printer.
If your software send just the job ant tell to use setings from the driver, ajust setings on (advance menu) from the driver.

Hi. I Recently inherited a Zebra 140 XiII(2) and I cannot set the print speed as the option doesn't show on the LCD menu or when I print out the printer config settings. Any help would be appreciated.

Print speeds on the Zebra xiII series printers are set via software. There is no printer menu speed setting on the xiII series. Zebra didn't allow speed adjusts thru the front panel menu until they made the xiIII series printers... The ZPL code command for print speed is "^PR"

How do you speed up he printing speed on a Paxar 9800/9850?

Are you printing a serial or parallel barcode? If you don't know, a serial barcode looks like a ladder as it prints out on the label. A parallel barcode looks like a picket fence. A serial barcode (ladder) prints at 2.5 ips by default. You can't increase the speed. If you're printing a parallel barcode (picket fence) you must hit "enter' once you adjust the speed setting in the printer menu. If you've done that and it still won't increase speed, then the speed is set by the software itself, and overrides any changes you make in the printer menu. The speed adjustment must then be made in the software, not the printer.

Konica Minolta PagePro 1350W low print speed

Jacques,

Print speeds will vary based on a lot of factors. First thing to note is that your printer should have a first print time of about 20 seconds. This means the first page should take about 20 seconds before it starts printing and than will print at rated engine speed.

Secondly, depending on the type of paper and thickness your speed may slow down. Most printers will slow down for a thicker paper. In general the thicker the paper the more time it needs for the toner to fuse or melt to the paper.

The size of the paper will also greatly affect the speed too. Manufacturers spec their machines to letter size in the portrait orientation (the leading edge is the 11 inch or long side). In general for legal you will have a 15 to 20% reduction in speed and for 11 x 17 you can have as much as a 40% or more reduction in speed.

Print resolution may affect the speed. Usually most printers will print faster in a draft mode. This may also reduce the amount of toner used.

How do you connect to your printer? Different cables all have different speeds. For that matter is there an upgrade to the RAM? This could also change the speed of the print job. However these should not affect the final speed too much.

So to get the "rated" speed of your printer you will need to use standard letter paper with the long edge leading. Remember don't use thick paper and use a draft mode or lower resolution if possible to get the best speed.

I hope this helps.

Henry
