SOURCE: Memory Card Requires Formatting

Hey B418,
Formatting will delete all your pictures on your camera or memory card. The camera might be prompting you to format because the the camera's memory is full. To avoid losing your pictures I would connect your camera to a computer, download your images to your computer first, and then format the memory.

Sincerely,
Allan

SOURCE: My Easyshare M550 states, "internal

Hello

OK, the first step will be to take out your memory card. Now, plug the camera into the computer using the USB data cable. Now, copy all the photos on the internal memory of the camera to the computer and delete it when the copy process is done.

Now, you just place back the memory card into the camera again, and the problem should be sorted lout.

Please feel free to let me know of you need any further assistance.

Kind regards

My pictures come out dark why?

It has nothing to do with the memory card. Try pulling your batteries out -- including the backup battery -- and letting the device reset to its default settings. You probably changed the contrast accidentally.

When i turn on my camera it says the memory card needs formatting i follow the instructions but it doesnt work and keeps saying to format the memory card. this happens over and over and i cannot take...

To understand the photo loss situation, consider a scenario: You format a memory card in Digital Camera, and start to capture some pictures. However, while capturing pictures, your camera shuts down due to low battery. Now, after recharging battery, when you try to access those photograph on the card, you receive the following error message on camera screen:

The Card requires formatting: Additionally, the camera is unable to capture any new photographs.

The main cause for the above error message is corruption of memory card due to conking of battery while a read/write operation was running.

These memory card needs to be formatted before you save any new pictures. It is always a good practice to take backup of card and format it before use. This enables you to fight with any damage done to the memory card and to erase the old data saved on the card. However, the probability of card getting corrupted again (after you have saved new data) still exists.

First try formating with an external SD Card reader connected at PC and test it.

My Kodak Easyshare V1223 turns on and shows all icons normally on the view screen as well as older pictures on the memory card...but shows everything else black and pictures remain black even with flash...

Hi!

It is not necessary something wrong with the camera itself. Sometimes the simptom is caused by the memory card. Reading from it works (so you can see older pictures) but every new picture is written wrong, so the camera shows only black.

Hope it is only the memory card in your case.

Good luck,

Internal memory is full i bought a new memory card and it still say the same thing only took 4 pictures help the camera is a kodak easyshare c182

To get the memory card to work, you must first erase the internal memory. Here's how...with no card in the camera, go into the menu and find "format"...follow the on-screen instructions. After that, your new card should work properly.

The camera says the internal memory is full. I inserted a 16gb memory card took two pictures and 1, 30 sec video. What is wrong?

There is nothing wrong. The camera is telling you the internal memory (of the camera itself) is full. The camera will not write to the memory card until the internal memory is wiped clean. To do this, with no card in the camera, go into the menu and find "format" and follow the on-screen instructions. After that, your card should work properly.

I put a new memory card in our Kodak EasyShare

Your camera is only supporting SD/MMC Cards (up to 1 GB)
The card that you currently have might be faulty. Please try another card.

You might also need to switch the camera over to saving pictures directly onto the SD card.
1: Menu 2: Cam settings 3: Chose AUTO or SD card option Press OK
Note: If the SD card isn't in the camera or is unreadable the camera will automatically go back to saving you taken pictures on the internal memory.

I have a Kodak Easyshare C180 digital camera. I open ity, take a picture and then it closes. I then cannot get it open again. I see the on/off button but nothing happens

Is the camera LENs won't retract? Try to use a brand new different recomended batteries like alkaline batteries or lithium batteries. If your using a rechargable batteries make sure that they are fully charge. You can also try to turn the camera ON without using memory card. Remove the memory card on the camera. Then put a new recomended battery, try to turn it ON if the camera will not turn ON or stay ON call kodak support line. Support in English and Spanish is available at 1-800-235-6325 (23KODAK)

Kodak Easyshare DX4330: camera won't complete formatting mem card

sometimes it does.
if your old card is working and the new card isn't chances are they are not compatible.

just like what they would say... we know that manufacturers would say.. it should work, if it doesn't try another one.

if both cards are not working them there is something wrong with the camera.

I have a kodak easyshare c813 digital camera. put new batteries in it, also new memory card . turn the camera on and it says internal memory is full. what do i need to do to be able to to fix this problem?

Hi and thanks for coming to FixYa.

To fix this you need to copy the pictures in your camera's internal memory to your pc. That way you won't accidentally lose them.
Then:
Go into the menu of your camera and format your card. Your camera won't save pictures to the card properly if you don't format it first. - You have to format it in the camera, don't use your pc or a card reader.
That will take care of your problem unless.... your card is locked. In that case, unlock it with the switch on the side. Let me know if you have any questions or problems.

My camera screen is completely black...

most digital cameras have the option of either viewing either thru the large screen OR thru the regular old view finder. There should be a small button that will let you toggle between the two. Hope this helps!
