On your Canon G12, the videos might come back in fast forward motion or at a quicker speed then when you filmed it, this is no problem. Turn the wheel on the top left of your camera to the video option, then look at the screen, right next to it there are a few buttons, the delete button is on the left top corner, directly opposite from it is a button with a square and then a circle in the middle of it. Click on that and there will be some options such as, B&W or miniature options, put it on standard mode and everything will be normal again :) hope this helped!

Somebody was using my canon powershot g9 and when they gave it back to me the lens was out and it was dead. Ive tried everything from charging the batteries and everything nothing is working. Please help!

Camera likely has a common short that comes up on the G9 camera. You just need to get the camera serviced and you'll be back in business again. The site that specializes in service for the powershots is: camerasandparts.com They're amazing if you need help with one of these, that's all they deal with. The good thing with them is they do the correction so that common short never comes back again on the G9. Good luck, that's the place if you need help with a powershot model, they're excellent when it comes to service for these.

My g9 was playing video clips very fast. i changed the setting back to "standard" and can record/play new videos correctly; however, the video clip that i previously recorded before i changed the setting...

I believe the setting you changed set the RECORD method, not playback. The video is recorded that way. There are some Video software out there that can rerecord a video at a slower pace, but do you want to spend the money? Try Ulead.com for a low cost program.

I was playing a game and out of nowhere something popped up on my screen saying i've been suspended until 3/14/10 today 3/6/10. Im very curious why! plz, can anyone help?

What video game were you playing? and did you do something you are not supposed to? If you were using Cheat Codes and other things you might of been suspended because of that!

Video records at high speed

You need to change your video settings. You have it set for time lapse. Turn your camera to the video mode on the top of the camera and then turn the dial on the back of the camera to the size of video you desire.

I'm unable to download photos from the disk.

You may be saving the images in the RAW format, which requires matching software to read. Most kiosks can't read them. If this is the case, switch back to jpeg format.

My Canon G9 was working fine but now movie clips are playing correctly when viewed on the camera's LCD screen but when downloaded to my laptop the image aspect ratio is incorrect and the picture looks...

i beleive that your issue is a setting in the program you are using to view the video. the camera will never skew a video. you may want to change the aspect ratio in the camera to match your viewer, but you should at least be able to set the viewer to maintain aspect ratios on video viewing. try viewing the videos with a different program. i.e. if you are using windows media player, try it with quicktime and see what happens. good luck

Video playing in fast forward with no sound

This is a really simple problem and easy to solve.  Unfortunately the videos you've recorded cannot be changed back because they have been recorded in Time Lapse mode.
With the camera switched on in Video Mode turn the control dial on the back (this is the dial to the right of the LCD screen).  This will change the settings from TIME LAPSE to STANDARD.  There are actually 6 different modes but the best one for normal videos is STANDARD.  There is a HIGH RESOLUTION setting,  however these record fewer frames per second (fps) so whilst the quality is better per frame,  there are half the amount of fps so the the movie will look at bit jerky.
It's really easy to accidentally twist the dial when holding the camera,  so always check the icon in the top right of the LCD before recording to make sure its just a yellow camera in a yellow square.
This should be problem solved for all future recording.

Problem w/ canon g9 camera

Make sure that you're not on timelapse, it should be standard to do a regular playback.

I have a canon SD 580. When I playback the video clip it's always in fast forward mode and I can't play it normal speed. Any help?

Make sure you are shooting your movies in "Standard" mode. If you have the mode set to something else, especially "Time Lapse", the playback may not match 'natural' motion.

In any case, you can control the speed of the playback. When you first enter the movie playback mode, there should be a movie control bar along the bottom of the LCD. Instead of the "Play" button, select the "Slow Motion Playback" button (single arrow with single bar next to the normal Play button), and control the speed with the left or right arrows on the multi-controller.
