Magnavox TB100MW9 DTV Converter repair

After a close-by lightning strike, my Magnavox TB100MW9
Digital TV Converter box stopped working. I took it apart and found a
shorted diode (the fat one on the power side of the board)
marked with the number SB340. From the NTE cross-reference
web site, I found a replacement diode, NTE586 (Si, Fast
Switching, Schottky Barrier Diode) that cost me $2.40 at
a local electronic parts store. I replaced the diode and
it works fine!

Magnavox 32MF301B/F7 32 in. LCD TV - my TV turns on by itself. What can I do about that?

Is it in a location that allows the sun to shine directly on it? Sometimes the light can trick the infrared sensor for the remote. Also, does the TV have any self timers enabled?

MAGNAVOX 51MP392H/17 NO PIC NO AUDIO

Thats a 8 Amp 600V diode BY229X-600 which is also used in locations 6307, 6308 & 6309 they are all the same diode. You should be able to get one from www.tvrepairworld.com

there is a diode or transistor that is defective. that is why the fuse keeps blew out. on visual the components looks fine but if you check the diode or transistor components they are so called open or defective.

My combo will shut off a few seconds after you turn it on

Get a very small hemostat, or heat sink clamp and clip it onto the wires coming out of the diode, batween the diode and the board. Use a small soldering pencil so you don't generate too much heat and use solder remover braid or a ****** to remove the solder. When you replace it, use the clamp again to protect the new one and make sure the polarity is the same or it won't work at all.
